For some reason or another, I'm having a difficult time getting excited about this pregnancy. I don't know if it's because it wasn't planned, the due date timing, the fact I haven't really felt this baby move, or what. Then I start to feel guilty and force myself to get happy, it's a vicious cycle.Right now we're surrounded by so many stresses and concerns, it's really difficult to find joy where it's needed most. … [Read more...]
Black Forrest Brownies Recipe

My husband is one lucky man, two nights, two delicious desserts! Of course that's also why he's about 80lbs overweight, yes, I said it, it's all my fault. I can't help but bake desserts that he loves to indulge in. Today's recipe is a variation of a cake my parents use to get once every few months from a seafood distributor, weird huh, seafood and cake. Anyways, it was 3 layers of rich chocolate cake and in … [Read more...]
Look what USPS dropped off!!!
Haha! No not really, but it was pretty funny. She really thought she was hiding from me while trying to duck into this old USPS crate. When she finally decided to pop up it was purely coincidental that there was some old junk mail in there for her to delivery to me. … [Read more...]
Recipe: All American Apple Pie

It's that time of year again, leaves rustling, winds with cooler air, and of course, apples galore. It's the perfect time to bake a pie, especially apple. Apples come in so many varieties and they're all special in their own way, but some apples are particularly good for baking. The short list, starting with my personal favorite is: Granny Smith Cameo Golden Delicious Jonathan Rome Some decent baking … [Read more...]
She’s Bow-tiful!
Today was "attempt to make a bow" day! Ha. So after follow the advice of some fellow bloggers and a few tutorials online I decided to try out bow making for myself. Let me start by saying glue guns are NOT my friend. I nearly glued my fingers together and burned my thumb twice. Aside from that and a few retries on getting the bow symmetrical, I don't think it went too bad at all. The bow was the easy part, making the … [Read more...]
9/11 Remembered
On September 11, 2001, when so many people were terrified and dying...I was sleeping. It such a guilty feeling to know that eve if I was thousands of miles away. That day, my first born son was 11 days old. It was the first night in 11 days that my husband and I were able to sleep more than a few hours straight, in fact we slept almost 8 hours undisturbed. There we were, passed out on the living room floor after a … [Read more...]

I'm absolutely over the moon right now and must admit I was desperately hoping for another little girl, especially since this one will be so close in age to Kaydence. 16 Weeks
It's that time again...baby bump update! I'm just a day or so shy of 16 weeks so I thought it would be fun to update the bump progression. I would say this pregnancy has been pretty easy on me thus far. A little nausea in the beginning, a little boob burstage over the last few weeks...other than that I'm doing great.Honestly, I haven't felt much change over the past 3 weeks. It starts messing with your head when you … [Read more...]
A Day at the Zoo
Today was one of those rare times where there was no overtime and the weather cooperated with our family activities. We decided to take advantage of the nice day and head out to our local zoo. It's no St. Louis zoo, but still offers a few cute animals and never over packed. In fact, I think we saw 4 families the entire time we were there. Our first stop was the monkey's, a favorite of mine. They are never short on … [Read more...]
