6 months down, 17 years and 6 months to go

Looking at it like that makes it sound like we have a lifetime together, but reality shows it’s just a few blinks away.Time is going by so quickly that it wasn’t until yesterday that I realized Tuesday Emma turned 6 months old. SIX MONTHS OLD! When the heck did that happen? I swear I was just holding her for the first time yesterday and today she’s crawling, by tomorrow she’ll be in school and next week getting married.

Happy 6 months baby Emma…now would you please slow down, mommy said so!

As if growing up wasn’t hard enough, our little Emma is an official crawler as well. I got a little snippet on the Flip but this girl really moves when she wants to. The other day I put her down so I could take a 30 second bathroom break, I came back out and she was gone. (This is where mommy goes into freak out mode) I get a little frantic searching the house, checking the door locks and then I hear it, her oh so cute self blowing raspberries on the other side of the bed. In 30 seconds this girl crawled across the room and around our big old bed.

It gets better, she’s also set on standing. She’s pulling herself up on anything she can find, the foot board, the tv stand, my leg, if she can get a grip on it, she’s got herself standing. Just don’t get her excited or the girl raises her arms in the air and goes down with a thud.

    Emma,

Slow down and stay a while.

    Cat,

In school and getting married? Please stop it because I can’t take it all. I look at my kids and think the same thing. Congratulations on the first six months.

You just don’t know do you? There will probably be many additional years after those first 18 years are over. My parents thought the same thing and then we just kept coming back one at a time. It didn’t happen at first, but somewhere after our first 18 years, we all managed to eek our way back into the comfort of their home.

LOL My parents can attest to that one. I think I spend more time with them now than I did as a teenager. I’m just a big kid. :-)

I tell ya I can’t believe that our girls are so close together but Sarah still does not sit up all by herself for longer then 30 seconds and she is no where near crawling. I know they say that it all happens in THEIR time. But darn it I’m slightly jelous..that is until I think..wait..after crawling comes WALKING lol :)

Aww no worries hun, my kids are just weird like that. They’ve always been quick on the physical stuff but slower on things like speech. Kids tend to concentrate on one part of development and master it while do the rest a bit slower.

I was reading a study the other day because I was a little shocked at her getting around so quickly and it said that parents that carry their babies around the majority of the time don’t get a chance to work on building those little muscles. We gave Emma a LOT of tummy time, right from the first couple of weeks. Something you can also do is put Sarah on the floor and place her toys just out of reach, she’ll get the motivation to go after them.

That’s older siblings for you. My 9 month old wants to eat steak, and get really upset if she doesn’t get it. She escaped through the front door and on to the front porch following her brother today, and is becoming a master in climbing the stairs… oy me. Honestly, I can’t wait until college :)

    Happy b-day Emma!

That’s hilarious. Our toddler use to do that so we started putting dinner through the magic bullet so she could eat with us.
