Animal Cracker Healing Power

I’ll be honest, this is going to sound really strange and I don’t typically advocate using food/snacks as a substitute for love, or in this case healing powers.

I’m in the kitchen making dinner and everyone else is running around all crazy like getting our evening chores done. In the midst of it all I hear a big CRASH followed by some pretty heart wrenching cries. I run into the living room to see my toddler, Kaydee, sitting on the floor next to the baby gate bawling her little eyes out. Evidently she had tried to climb the gate and it fell leaving her crashing to the ground right on her bum.

I run over, hold her, console her…the tears start to subside.

Back into the kitchen we go and while I’m putting groceries away she’s still wimpering about her bum hurting. Then I make THE mistake.

Me “here Kaydee, have an animal cracker, it’ll make your bum feel better”

Kaydee takes the cracker and I go about my business.

Husband “Cat, why is she sticking an animal cracker in her butt crack?”

I run to the other side of the island to see her pants down around her ankles, diaper on the floor and Kaydee busy shoving that animal cracker right in her bum crack. I’m beyond shocked and shout at her, “Kaydee what are doing?”

Kaydee – “bum feel better”

We all end up bursting out laughing and of course my poor daughter has no idea what she did wrong. She was only doing what mommy told her. Clearly I need to be WAY more specific about things. And no, I did not let her eat the animal cracker. LOL
