Back to School with New wholesome variety Lunchables

Lunchables is making some new healthy changes in the lunch kits. Now in the refrigerators at your local stores are several new combinations that not only offer a complete meal but are good for the kids too, without skimping on a little sweetness. Yesterday I packed up the new Lunchables Ham and American Sub Kit that came with everything he needed for a nutritious lunch. Inside the kit – Whole Grain Mini Bun, Lean Ham, Kraft 2% American cheese, Kraft Fat Free Mayo, Sugar Free strawberry Jell-o, Chewy Chips Ahoy Cookies and Spring Water with a Kool-aid single packet.

lunchables3As a mom, I love that even though these new kits are a little larger than before, they still manage to fit nicely inside a standard lunch tote. While there isn’t much room to spare, the Lunchables kit comes with everything a kid needs. One problem I do have though is each kit comes with 2 desserts. Honestly, I don’t think they need to come with cookies AND jell-o. One or the other would be just enough to hit that sweet spot, not both. So like any good mom, I snuck in and replaced the Chips Ahoy cookies with a small bag of carrot sticks.

lunchables1When we first hit the store to pick up lunches for next week my 8 year old son was happy to see the new Lunchables combinations come in some awesome kid friendly varieties, starting with his favorite:

  • Deep Dish Pepperoni Pizza
  • Deep Dish Cheese Pizza
  • Ham and American Cracker Combo
  • Turkey and Cheddar Cracker Combo
  • Ham and American Sub Combo
  • Turkey and Cheddar Sub Combo

Each of the new Lunchables kits offers a nutritious and low fat variety like lean meats, whole grains, reduced fat cheese and water. I’m loving the new kits so much I had the turkey and cheddar sub myself for lunch this week and it was perfect for even me at just 360 calories.

We LOVE lunchables in my house. I haven’t seen these new ones yet. My kids beg for the cheese & cracker ones. I’ll have to go look for them.

I saw these in a local flyer and thought wow. These look great and I think would give the teens what they want as well

My kids love lunchables. but they are so expensive. I will/can only buy them when they are on sale for $1 each. Then I end up buying like 20 of them. They love it :)

I picked up two of these for myself the other day. I have to do portion control and these are perfect for that. I can say not all of them have two desserts. The turkey and cheddar one had naturally sweetened applesauce and mini nilla wafers. I love these things and will definitely buy more. The only thing I don’t like is the fat-free mayo, it doesn’t taste right to me. But it’s not bad.
