Berry to Crunch Ratio

This past week I’ve had a lot of time on my hands. When your neck is stiffer than a corpse and spasms every time you move, it’s best to just hang out and not move at all. During these moments of sheer and utter boredom I poured myself quite a few bowls of cereal. It’s just one of those foods that hits the spot and doesn’t require any cooking.

As random and odd as this sounds, what’s up with the berry to crunch ratio in Cap’n Crunch cereal? Is it just me or do too many berries just completely cancel out the flavor of the crunch pieces?

I found myself picking through the bowl and tossing aside about half of the berries to get it just right.

captain crunch too many berries

Now don’t go making me feel like the biggest weirdo in the world…you know you’ve got some weird food habits.

    Cat,

I’ll join in on the cereal. I like bran cereal, but whenever I’m presented w/a box of Raisin Bran (offered at breakfast bars, etc.), I’ll pick out all of the raisins and set them aside. I have to be in the mood to eat the raisins in the cereal which doesn’t happen too often. When I’m at home, I just buy the bran cereal at the store. Now that I have children, I have a very eager seven year old who loves eating those sugar coated raisins.

If you want a better understanding of my picky eating habits, then picture Meg Ryan as Sally (When Harry Met Sally – our favorite couple movie) and her experience in the diner at the beginning (not later in the movie :) ) of the movie and that’s me – definitely w/the apple pie.

Aha! I knew I wasn’t alone. LOL I use to do that to Raisin Bran too, I’d leave about 4 raisins in there and toss the rest.

Well, I like the berries myself, so I would have been tossing out the yellow ones. LOL

Sorry you are so bored. :)

Having spent so much time in physical therapy and stuck on a heating pad or hooked up a TIENS unit I can totally relate to the boardem and how it can drive you a bit mad.
I like ketchup and pickles …hmmm I wonder if I could make a tomato and pickle salad.

I myself like the crunch better also, but I am the weirdo that picks the raisins out of Raisin Bran. lol

Hope you are all feeling better after your accident. I know that they are no fun.

I am a berry fan. It seemed growing up there were never enough berries. Now it seems like it’s about right :) That sounds good right about now…

You are absolutely right…but…the Marshmallow to Cereal Ratio in Lucky Charms fails!!! Too much cereal and never enough Marshmallow!!!!

How about picking out the Marshmallows from Lucky Charms to enjoy seperately? Does that count?
