In the midst of a time where communities (online) are becoming divided and showing ugly colors, I thought it would be nice to be reminded that there’s still a time and a place where communities can pull together and show their beautiful colors – in the form of holiday lights!
This past weekend we piled the family into the car to do some sight seeing around town and came upon a small neighborhood that is just bursting at the seams with holiday spirit. Just three days after Thanksgiving, homes and yards were already lit up with some amazing holiday light scenes and I couldn’t help myself from taking photos. As we crept past each home I was amazed at the time these families spent creating such spirited displays for the holidays. Neighbors were out and about, mingling with each other and helping each other add even more decorations. It was a nice reminder that there’s still a loving community spirit out there somewhere.

That looks like so much fun! My kids would LOVE it!
Looks like some great holiday spirit! Thanks for sharing the spirit!
Those are so pretty
I was just telling the kids how I think it would be fun to go look at some holiday lights. I don’t know, all those pretty decorations just make me smile.
Things sure have gotten ugly lately and this is a nice reminder of for all of us about the true spirit of the season.

i LOVE holiday lights! you need to track down someone in new mexico to send you some pictures of farolitos (spelling? not sure?)… it’s a lovely holiday tradition they have where everyone sets out paper bags with candles and sand in them (or electric bags) all around their house. It’s super-magical!
