All across the nation men, women and children are walking the streets and searching out warm places to sleep. Winter is approaching very quickly and many of the homeless will have no protection from the chill of the cold weather. Together, Land’s End and people like you and I can make a difference. Whether you’re looking for some new winter clothes for yourself or have a crafty hand, there’s something you can do to help just one person.
How YOU can Help!
- Help us spread the word about the campaign and the Feel Good Sweater collection through every resource: email, twitter, facebook, face to face.
- Purchase a FeelGood Sweater and a cone of yard will be donated to One Heart Foundations Warming Families, a nationwide charity that knits clothing for the homeless.
- For every blog post about the campaign from now until September 16th, a cone of FeelGood yarn to volunteer knitters at Warming Families will be donated. One cone of FeelGood yarn is enough to make 28 hats to be donated to homeless individuals in communities across the country.
Get Involved!
Join Lands’ End and Vickie Howell, host of TV’s Knitty Gritty, for a Twitter Party to celebrate the kick-off the FeelGood Campaign! The party will feature more than 20 fun giveaways ranging from the FeelGood sweater and Vickie Howell’s books to Lands’ End gift cards and FeelGood yarn.

thanks! i plan on attending the blog party.
Cat,
Because of this post I’ve decided to do a local coat drive this winter. My primary focus will be on children, but I will glady accept donations for adults. You have definitely sparked a fire under my feet to get out and do something for those less fortunate. Nothing hurts more than seeing children in need, and I’m going to do my very best to bring a smile to some faces this winter. Maybe others will be just as inspired as I am. I want to say “thanks” for such a great blog! I hope that other bloggers will also bring a voice to the less fortunate in some fashion.
Willow that just brought the brightest smile to my face! Thank you!
I’ve never crocheted before but I’m picking up a book on it this week to try my hand at it to donate some hats. They probably won’t be pretty but hopefully functional.
I swear I think that kids must get hungry and eat their hats and gloves. This is a wonderful idea. I love to crochet! I think I will start crocheting my daycare kiddos some hats for winter and even donate some to our local clothing shelter. It can’t take very long to make a hat, I’m sure.
Thanks for the post.
What a great idea. I’m hoping to be in on the Twitter party tonight. I make lap quilts for the local state-run nursing home (with ties on two corners so they can be firmly attached to wheelchairs if needed). I wish I could crochet.
this sounds like a very worthwhile event to share so I have twittered about it
