About Build-a-Bear

Build-a-Bear Workshop was born from an idea my friend Katie – who was 10 years old at the time – and I had when we were out shopping for stuffed toys. When we couldn’t find the stuffed toy she wanted, she said, “These are so easy, we could make them.” She meant we could do a craft project, but what I heard was so much bigger. We decided to reinvent the idea of making your own stuffed animals for mall- based retailing.

We opened our first store in 1997 at the Saint Louis Galleria in St. Louis, Missouri. Today there are over 400 stores worldwide, and just over 70 million furry friends adventuring around the globe.

Good Housekeeping Seal

If there’s one things my kids love it, it’s furry friends to drag around the house and snuggle up to. I just prefer it be the kind that doesn’t bite back – unlike our cat.

Build-a-Bear was kind enough to send our little girl a Good Housekeeping Seal to hug and love their little heart out with. And that’s exactly what she’s been doing since we opened the box. I can’t get her to put the little guy down. And of course she just has to be all adorable and run around the house saying “seewall” in that cute little toddler talk.

Putting all cuteness aside there’s an even better reason to own the furry, white seal. Build-a-Bear is donating 50¢ of every stuffed seal purchase to the World Wildlife Fund to protect endangered animals and their habitats much like the Harp Seal is in need of.
