I Should Not be a Mom to Girls

It’s the truth. I just don’t have a girly bone in my body and find myself completely clueless when it comes to being a mom to girls. With my son, it’s easy as pie, I grab the clippers, buzz off the hair, line up the back and he’s good to go.

My curly, fluffy headed daughter is an entirely different story. One that luckily ended well yesterday.

You see, she’s a girl. Not just any girl but the kind that wants her piggies painted, pretty dresses, lipstick (yes, she’s asking for it at 2 ugh) and her hair made all purdy. She should have asked her dad.

You know what that is don’t you? It’s okay, go ahead and laugh, in fact, laugh enough for both of us because all I was doing at the time was panicking. Big time! Little Miss Kaydence asked her mommy to brush her hair. What mommy didn’t know was that a round brush and curly hair don’t mix well. Alright, no more laughing! It took me nearly 20 minutes to pull each strand out in small chunks to avoid breaking her hair.

Feel free to leave me some “curly hair for dummies” tips, I could sure use them.

LOL I”m laughing only because I’d be as clueless as you are with a girl. Glad I have boys.

Ok, Cat I can not stop laughing. This is just way to funny!!!!! I have three girls and can not comb or braid hair to save my life.

You know, I have found that round brushes and even STRAIGHT hair do not mix well. Although, the painted piggies, pretty dresses, lipstick and hair bows are a few of my FAVORITE parts about having three girls!

Let’s swap tips. I’ve got no clue about BOYS! (My poor lone son, surrounded by all this estrogen…)

Do not be so hard on yourself. Its hard work dealing with mixed race hair. I have had it all my life and I still cant get it right. Thank goodness I have a stylist who does. I swear the only time it looks GREAT is when she does it.
I wouldn’t wash her hair every day. I hope you are using conditioner in her hair. If not use both a conditioner and, a detangler, or a leave in conditioner for curly hair. I would check out Goody hair products and find the right brush or comb to use on her hair. My daughter is 25% black and she only has a bit of the curls. I would try to perfect styling her hair now our she will have a lot of breakage and her hair will not grow out evenly. I am sure she will want long hair sooner or later. Best to massage the shampoo and conditioner in her hair. I am not an expert but my daughters hair looks really great.
    Best of luck!

LMAO My daughter has curly hair – not as curly as Kaydence’s but curly and it’s a pain in the butt! I know your pain!

She’s too cute though even with a brush stuck in her hair!!!!

At least she wasn’t panicking too! That makes it awful! Keep her hair up. As a kid I had two helicopters, three micro-machines and one hair brush cut out of my hair. I’m still looking for a good how to do hair video online for little kid hair. I’ll pass it along once I find it…

now i have a grandson to learn with but my only daughter gave me lots of practice to learn from, had that happen to me too, next time spray water mixed with some conditioner on it and as you turn, move, jiggle it the wet creamy solution will work its way thru to come right off and also protect the hair since the conditioner is on it.

LOL – I have curly hair like that and my mom never brushed it. That was the solution :-) Now I just use a pick so I don’t have to deal with it, either. But, I love having curly hair -it’s just so easy. I’ve never straightened it or anything – what’s the point really. I’ve never been one to mess with my hair much, either, so it’s really a gift that I have easy hair to take care of. My daughter has stick straight hair & I have no idea what to do with it! I guess I will have to learn! Kaydee will more than likely love it when she’s older – just hold onto that.

I’m sorry but I had to laugh because your daughter’s facial expression says it ALL! LOL!!! I have done this to my OWN hair with a similar brush and know how difficult it is to get the brush out without taking clumps of hair with it.

I can laugh because I’ve done this! Um…to myself! My daughter has curly hair & both she & daddy have done this to her because they stole my brush.
