It’s the truth. I just don’t have a girly bone in my body and find myself completely clueless when it comes to being a mom to girls. With my son, it’s easy as pie, I grab the clippers, buzz off the hair, line up the back and he’s good to go.
My curly, fluffy headed daughter is an entirely different story. One that luckily ended well yesterday.
You see, she’s a girl. Not just any girl but the kind that wants her piggies painted, pretty dresses, lipstick (yes, she’s asking for it at 2 ugh) and her hair made all purdy. She should have asked her dad.
You know what that is don’t you? It’s okay, go ahead and laugh, in fact, laugh enough for both of us because all I was doing at the time was panicking. Big time! Little Miss Kaydence asked her mommy to brush her hair. What mommy didn’t know was that a round brush and curly hair don’t mix well. Alright, no more laughing! It took me nearly 20 minutes to pull each strand out in small chunks to avoid breaking her hair.

Feel free to leave me some “curly hair for dummies” tips, I could sure use them.

Lol! I think we’ve all done that atleast once in our lives. My suggestion is to use lots of Johnson’s detangler. I have a daughter would super curly hair and one with a little wave in her hair. You would think it’s harder to take care of the curly hair but it’s not. As long as she uses lots of conditioner we don’t have any knots or problems. The little one’s hair is another story. It’s usually filled with knots and the detangler helps out a ton. Best of luck with your hair struggles.
I’m sorry I couldn’t help but laugh. I have one daughter and I love all the girlie things. She hates having her hair brushed though because she also has curly hair and it gets knotted really easily. I avoid round brushes like the plague lol after having one stuck in my hair and loosing a lot of hair trying to get it out I wont go near one
Don’t feel bad, I feel the same way about my four year old daughter! She is really girly, and I am dreading when she becomes a teenager and wants to know all the secrets to applying makeup. I was never good with make-up! Do they have a book called: Dummies Guide to Raising Girls for Moms Who Don’t Have A Girly Bone In Their Body?
I need that book! lol Thank you for making me feel normal!
LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh no! I’ve never done that… but my 9 year old did that in her own hair once and I had to CUT it out – it was THAT bad… but the one she used was the 1/2 inch size, really small, so I couldn’t get the hair off. It was terrible LOL! Round brushes, in my experiences, just ASK for trouble haha
I AM laughing…but only because I have done that very thing to my OWN hair. I have curly hair; luckily, my daughter has body, but not curls. I am not a girly girl by any stretch, and found it easy to take care of my son when he was small. Buzzed the hair, bought the G.I. Joes, all that stuff. When I found out I was pregnant with a girl the second time around, I was worried. Pink??? Lace??? Barbie??? UGGGGG!
But, I was lucky enough to get a girl who is as little girly as I am. Her favorite colors: Green and Blue. Favorite toys: Playmobil, animals, Lego, Hot Wheels. Hates dresses. Loves comfort.
The one pitfall: she wants her hair LONG, and every night a rat nests right in the back near the apex of her head, and crying, yelling, and running ensues when I get the brush.
What I love about having a girl? She is so sweet! She loves to cuddle more than my son ever did. She tells me things my son never would have, so she is much more transparent. And we don’t own one Barbie.
Find a friend who can (and likes to) do all the hair do’s, and utlize her.
Signed…Mom of three easy boys and one (omg how do i do the girly thing for her??!!??!!) girl.
lol Aww..poor Kaydee! I wish I had some tips for you but I don’t. Hope all her pretty curls are still intact!
i have curly hair! lots of condition and never use a brush…only combs when the hair is wet!
I would have no idea either since my girls always had straight hair I could brush and put up in pony tails or piggy tails
LOL hugs
no tips
mine has a straight hair so it’s just a little easier
