I have to say, life in this house is like a circus, a new show in every ring, all going on at once, there’s screaming, laughter, crying, smiles, seriously a circus. And I just found out I am NOT the ringmaster. I’m just one of the clowns trying to keep everyone entertained. My kids are running this show!
It’s basically been one of those days where if it can go wrong, it will. It started off by hearing the doorbell go off in my ear several times abruptly waking me up. I jump out of bed and put on the closest thing to clothing I could find. I ended up staggering to the door in flannel pj pants and my sports bra, eyes still shut because while my legs were in wake mode, my brain wasn’t. It was my parents. It was an unexpected, but welcome visit.
Off I trudged to get fully dressed, can’t exactly go flashing my breasts all over the house with my parents there now could I? Minutes later my toddler and baby were awake. Great. I was less than enthusiastic because I MUST have coffee before dealing with children. Then I come to find out my daughter, who is still sick from some wretched virus, had an explosive diaper that she got her grubby little fingers into and spread all over herself and the crib bedding.
Thankfully my mom took care of that while I fed the baby.
So here I am, finally awake enough to function and I see what looks like mud on my floor. I go to pick it up to find out it’s dog poo. We don’t have a dog! Come to find out my mom walked through our side yard and stepped in it. Again, we don’t have a dog. But our neighbor does. I’m telling you, I’m about 1 pile of poo away from scooping it all up and tossing it on their back porch. People these days just have no respect for anyone else’s property.
This day can’t get any worse right?
Wrong. Emma not only peed on me during a diaper change, but puked up the breast milk all over myself and her, twice. And you breastfeeding mamas know this stuff is like liquid gold, it breaks my heart to see any of it go to waste.
I think we hit the bottom on how many things can go sour in one day, so I’m putting on my happy face and praying things can only get better from here on.

At least the unexpected visit from your mom got you out of cleaning the poopy diaper and crib. My mom is amazing but would never touch poop if she didn’t have to. But she does know never to show up before calling and never before 9am.
I hope the rest of your day is going better.
Cat,
You had me when you mentioned how breast milk is “like liquid gold.” Hallelujah! I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to cry with my baby when I was pumping milk and I accidently knocked the bottle over before putting on the cap. Why? Why? With my younger two, I put the breast pump up and nursed so at least I didn’t have to worry about knocking over anymore milk.
Moms are good for that; cleaning up our baby’s poo poo diapers. My mother jumps in all the time. She even gives them baths. I wonder if I will be as helpful when I become a grandmother.
Just think, it may not take five years before you’re looking back on these days w/a great big sincere smile on your face. It’s great being a mother!
I’m so sorry you’re having a rough day! Hope you make it through tomorrow without any bodily fluids to clean up or clean off of you! I know that’s my goal for the day (seriously)!
Sounds like you had a great day! I today is much better for you! We dont realize how great our days are when nothing goes wrong, until the day that EVERYTHING goes wrong!
Sorry to hear about your bad day yesterday. Hopefully today is better for you. I know all about those bad days, doing daycare with that fabulous “virus” going around with 4 kiddos in either diapers or pull-ups totally sucks!
