Looney Tunes Kids Eating Right – Teaching Healthy Choices

Last week I introduced you to the Looney Tunes Eating Right Kids program and touched on the topic of food selection challenges for kids. This week I want to touch on how we can teach our kids to make those healthy choices for themselves.

Even to this day, I struggle with making the right food choices which in turn teaches my kids some unhealthy habits. Something that has worked well for me is pairing a healthy selection with a sweet treat. This way, you get a good dose of nutrients but satisfy your craving at the same time. My oldest has noticed this and tends to follow suit. Some of my favorite paired treats are:

  • looney2Grapes with cream cheese fruit dip
  • Apples with caramel
  • Bananas and chocolate
  • Celery with peanut butter and raisins for the kids aka ants on a log

Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to help your kids make better choices for snacks or lunches?

Don’t forget to check out the weekly blog topics for Nutritionist, Haylie Pomroy on Mom Logic. You can download some sample lunch menus, enter to win a Looney Tunes gift basket like the one featured here and find savings on Eating Right products available at Safeway stores.
