Our Taste of Sam’s Club Experience

As I mentioned earlier this week, Sam’s Club is hosting a holiday food sampling event, Taste of Sam’s. Each store is featuring a number of holiday menu foods from cheese n crackers to spiral sliced ham. Yesterday was the first day of the event and we were there to check out all of the goodies and do a little bit of holiday shopping ourselves.

Right through the doors we were greeted by a lovely woman passing out informational handouts that featured the special deals available this weekend. Our first stop was a little sample station tucked away offering hot chocolate samples. I’ll admit, I’m a chocolate lover and the sample was all we needed to toss a value box of Swiss Miss instant hot chocolate packets into the cart.

Next stop, the cooking demonstrations. This weekend, each day a different cooking demo will be featured, yesterday’s was spiral sliced ham and mashed potatoes with gravy. We must have just missed the crowd because the only thing going on was some gravy stirring. We came back around about 30 minutes later but this particular sample station was still unavailable.

Over the course of the hour we spent time shopping and sampling we encountering meatballs, cheese platters, hot wings and cheesecake (another one we couldn’t resist buying). While many of the sample stations were unavailable or in the process of being cooked, my personal favorite sampling spot was with the cheese ladies. They were so sweet and went over the flavors of each cheese available and I even learned about a few new ones.

Overall, I think your own experience will vary by location but it’s definitely worth checking out if you have some holiday shopping to do.

Of course we couldn’t leave Sam’s Club without doing some holiday shopping. We found some amazing deals, like the 100 piece shatterproof ornaments, my favorite crescent rolls, a six hook family stocking hanger, cheesecake and some holiday gifts I can’t quite show you yet.

Don’t forget, we’re also hosting a number of gift card giveaways for Sam’s Club, including a $75 gift card with all the information about the Taste of Sam’s event. You can also visit the Holidays Made Simple website hosted by Sam’s Club to see the event brochure.

We went around 1pm and it looks like maybe we missed the lunch rush, I imagine today will be much busier though. Tomorrow is chocolate dipping for the demos. ;-)

Looks like you had a good time! I love Sam’s Club especially during this time of year. The holiday specials, toys, food, and decorations there are wonderful.

I have to mention that your kiddos are so adorable! Great post!

Sounds like you had a LOT more fun than we did- we went cuz of what you had written and it was a major disappointment. The girls did like the orange frosted cinnamon rolls we got going in, but for the most part- the store was dirty, the workers were bored/not smiling/blah whatever and I spent a fortune on cheese (I always do) but bought nothing the cheese lady had cuz the only sample she had out was cheddar. There were packs for brie and some other things we never try but she said oh other lady on break and just kept with the cheddar even when some other customers asked to try something else.
I was really surprised that for the most part the samples were what is always there not the appetizers etc that I would buy for the holidays if I knew they were good. And the cheesecake while good (not great)- if they had done the little sampler cut in quarters with the chocolate etc there would have been a LOT more sales IMO.
We did get some great deals but none that we can’t always find and their movie prices didn’t look so hot (Up specifically, cost more than Kyra paid at Wal Mart last week for the blu-ray edition).
Since you work for/with Sam’s as one of their moms, maybe you can tell them it is a HUGE disappointment to those of us who aren’t paid to get people to want to go.

      Hi :-)

I really appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback on the event. If you don’t mind, could you email me the store location you went to? I will most definitely share your feedback with Sam’s so they can address it.
