Recipe: Chipped Beef Gravy

Call it what you want, chipped beef gravy, shit on shingles, prison food, whatever, it’s not pretty but I promise it tastes really good! And it’s a great filler meal in the middle of the week when you just don’t have time or you’re low on cash. I wish I could make it more often but my husband actually did work in a prison for quite awhile and the guards were forced to eat the same food the inmates were served. So this particular dish is a part of his work history he’d rather forget.

Ingredients

  • 1 small package of Buddig Beef slices
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 TBS of butter
  • 3 TBS of flour
  • bread for toasting
  • potatoes for mashing

I love Chipped Beef Gravy, but I make mine just a bit different. I think it is better if you use the jarred Dried Beef and I also throw in about four beef boulion cubes per 3 jars of beef. When I make it, I make enough for a couple meals. It usually feeds the daycare lunch and then supper also, or supper then lunch the next day. Yummy!!!
