3 Kids and Us Tested and Approved
Dinnertime in our house is often a last minute scrambling to fix up something that is quick, easy, tastes good, and semi-healthy. Add in three young children in the house and a tight budget, we just don’t have the luxury of dining out very often. Then we heard the news that Romano’s Macaroni Grill was taking their restaurant favorites to the grocery store to offer families like my own an affordable way to enjoy restaurant quality meals.
We often turn to boxed dinner kits because they provide most of the ingredients and are ready in less than 30 minutes. This is exactly what the Creamy Basil variety did! What I liked most about this particular dinner kit is all of the ingredients provided to create a unique and home-cooked flavor. Inside we found seasoning, grated cheese, sun-dried tomatoes, linguine pasta and a creamy sauce pouch all individually packaged. This is exactly what I’ve been suggesting to companies for years. I love the ability to use the ingredients that will fit our families personal taste preferences without having to dig them out of one combined flavor packet.
Mom Improvements
Priced around $6.00 a box I was hoping they would offer more food for the money. I realized very quickly that one box would not feed a hungry family of five and ended up sending my husband to the grocery store to grab an extra box. I’d like to see these dinner kits provide more pasta to accommodate a larger family with a value size somewhere between the cost of one box and two. The packaging does say that it makes five 1-cup servings, but we find those portions to be on the small side.
