About Shi Shu Style:
SHI SHU BABY™ blankets were designed with my son in mind. When he was born, he received several cozy, fluffy blankets from friends and family. Many of these blankets were made of microfiber/polyester. Unfortunately, my son’s favorite blanket, made of microfiber/polyester, caused him to break out into a rash. That’s when I decided to design a line of blankets made only of natural fibers. When I started researching alternative fabrics/fibers, I discovered Bamboo and fell in love with it’s qualities. Bamboo is antibacterial, soft as silk, keeps you cool in the Summer, keeps you warm in the Winter and most importantly…BREATHES! When the SHI SHU BABY™ blanket design was finalized, I decided that I would love to have a larger version for myself. So I designed the signature SHI SHU HOME™ throw. Now your entire family can enjoy these soft, 100% natural handwoven blankets.
Mom Approved:
One thing we are collectors of in our house is blankets, you can never have enough of them. But not just any blanket. In previous posts you likely heard about our children’s sensitive skin. Often blankets that contain unnatural fibers result in a rash on our daughters. For that reason, we pay special attention to what fabrics are snuggled up directly to their little bodies.
Out of the package, the first thing I noticed about the 30″ x 40″ Shi Shu bamboo baby blanket was how incredibly soft and lightweight it is. After further research I found that the baby blanket is composed of 60% cotton, 40% bamboo, and 100% bamboo sateen trim. That little tidbit of information is what makes these blankets so special and perfect for newborn skin.
Benefits of Bamboo
- Naturally anti-microbial – even after 50 washes bamboo retains it’s anti-bacterial and anti-fungal nature meaning it’s perfect for helping reduce body odor and allergens.
- Eco-friendly – in comparison to excessive use of cotton, using bamboo helps our environment because it requires no pesticides, replanting, or fertilizers in comparison to cotton plants.
- Comfortable and Practical – bamboo fabric is naturally porous, in turn absorbing moisture and wicking it away from your baby’s sensitive skin.
Aside from all the benefits mentioned, I personally love these blankets because they are incredibly soft, lightweight, and the handwoven design is simply beautiful.
Mom Improvements:
I would love to see the baby blankets expanded to include more colors to match any nursery decor.
