Small Talk Six – I am my Mother’s Daughter

smalltalksix125The ladies of MomDot are at it again with a new weekly meme called Small Talk Six. Every Saturday a new topic is announced and you respond to each topic with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 photos, or 6 paragraphs, whatever your heart desires. This week’s topic is: 6 ways you are like or not like your mother.

This one is a bit of a mix for me because I would say I’m half and half. I have a lot of traits that resemble my mother and father.

1. We have attitude. – Yep, we both got it. It could be PMS, a full moon, or maybe you just breathed the wrong way. We’re short fused women.

2. We’ve have the looks. We have a lot of physical similarities when it comes to our body frame. And thank goodness I got her nose.

3.  Betty Crocker Twins. Surprisingly, we’re both really good cooks, and bakers. You wouldn’t have guessed it from the first few dishes I served my husband but she taught me a lot of great kitchen skills and recipes.

4. Working Mom vs Stay at Home Mom. She’s the career woman, I’m the stay at home mommy. It’s almost like we were born in the opposite time periods.

5. Wallflower vs Butterfly. Socially, I’m the very quiet and shy type more like my dad, and my mom is the outgoing friendly one.

6. Type A all the way! Seriously, there isn’t a laid back bone in our bodies. We must be busy physically or mentally all of the time. We’re multitaskers to the max.

  1. Isn’t it amazing sometimes how two people can be so much alike and yet so different

  2. My mom and I are both Type A people too! It really drives our Type B husbands crazy!

I used to be a multitasker, and then I had kids. My brain needs to do things sequentially now. It’s frustrating sometimes.

you know, it’s funny. My mom and I have the same difference in work ethics as well. She’s very career oriented, even when I was growing up. Now, I would love to be career oriented, but it’s more important to me at this point to be home with the kiddos.

Funny how she was the career woman and you’re the stay at home mom. Seems like the stay at home thing is becoming popular again.

  6. Sandy says:

My mom and I are the same in a lot of ways! But she works outside the home and I stay at home with the kids. And I am so glad I got her cooking skills! My sister did not and I sure feel bad for her kids;0)
