Small Talk Six – Spring

smalltalksix125The ladies of MomDot are at it again with a new weekly meme called Small Talk Six. Every Saturday a new topic is announced and you respond to each topic with a list of 6 words, 6 phrases, 6 photos, or 6 paragraphs, whatever your heart desires. You can check out the Small Talk Six announcement to see all of the pre-scheduled topics for 2009. Don’t forget to stop by and see this week’s responses!

This weeks topic is…

6 things you love or hate about spring time.

1. I have LOVE-HATE relationship with flowers.

You see I have a brown thumb. As much as I love flowers and planting them, somehow I always manage to kill them. I even killed the impossible to kill…a cactus. Of course technically that wasn’t my fault. It fell out of my window sill and I sat on it, crushing it death.

2. I HATE the grass.

My husband gets obsessed every spring about the yard and it makes me batty. I don’t care if there’s crab grass or dandelions. But he just has to have the perfect yard. It’s grass people!

3. I HATE allergy season.

Not because I have them but because my husband and kids do. They are sneeze-a-holics and will sneeze like 10 times in a row. That’s enough to make anyone insane.

4. I LOVE the sun.

I think I’m the palest person alive. With spring comes a nice bright sun that gives me a golden tan, which I’m in desperate need of right now.

5. I LOVE the warm weather.

It warms up, the kids get out of my house meaning less messes for me to clean up inside. ’nuff said.

6. I HATE the japanese beetles.

These hard shelled black bugs come out in swarms eating everything in their path. Once June rolls around I can’t even go outside anymore because there are so many of them. They eat my roses, destroy trees, and bounce off the siding laying dead in my driveway in the masses. Plus it hurts like hell if one flies into you, they have a seriously hard shell on them.

  2. Ouch…sitting on the catus must have hurt, lol. I am with you though, I kill all plants. That is why I have an extremely simple outside. Your husband sounds like mine about the grass.

  3. Staci A says:

I hate bugs that come along with spring! Last year I couldn’t go in my yard at all because these icky little bugs would attack me. It was miserable!

  4. I understand about the husband spending a lot of time with the grass. With my husband though, no matter how much time he spends on it, the weeds still come through.

  5. I’m sorry Cat but I’m laughing thinking about you sitting on a cactus! I have a kind of brown thumb. A few months ago I bought 3 palm trees for inside the house. They were on sale for 4 bucks. Well lets just say that I have one left. It wasn’t my fault though the tag said to keep moist. Nope not supposed to do that I watered them to much and they died of rot!

Cat I’m with you re flowers. I have killed all flowers in my garden, which doesn’t look like much of a garden at the moment!

  13. I am TOTALLY there with you on the Husband obsessing about the grass! Mine spends too much time and too much money on the lawn! He makes it look perfect. It is always manicured and greened to perfection. :)
    Happy Spring!
