T-Mobile Tech Dummy

Let me start by saying, 9 times out of 10 I won’t bash a company or person on my blog. You have to really get under my skin in order for me to tell the world “you are a DUMMY!”

Two nights ago I decided to activate e-mail and internet service on my new cell phone. It was simple enough, I could do it right from my phone. Within seconds the internet was working fine but for some reason I couldn’t set up my email account. The screen just flashed at me. So the first logical step was to check the manual…I did as it said, still no worky. Second step was to visit mytmobile.com and check any additional troubleshooting on there. Again, I followed all the steps, still no worky. I’m a tad irritated but decide to send in a support ticket when I notice the handy feature of talking with a technical support agent online. Great!!! I really thought this would be ten times faster than waiting on an email or on hold with a customer service agent in India that I could barely understand. Clearly I never learn.

After reading the same repetitive message pop up for over an hour an agent finally came to my rescue. Mr. WayneG was my new best friend, or so I thought. Either he is the slowest typist in the world or has no friggin clue what he’s doing. He even had the nerve to ask if I was “still there” as I dozed in and out of conciousness waiting for his useless replies. At one point he asked for my husband’s social security number which I promptly gave him for “security reasons”. Then he proceeds to tell me I’m not an authorized user and would need to have my husband call in. By this time I was more than irritated and asked if I should have my husband come type for me. Clearly I’m a security risk, even knowing his social security number and all. Ugh.

Two hours in and I got nowhere. He had no idea what was wrong or how to help me. The next day my husband calls and within 30 seconds the woman tells him it takes 48 hours for the service to activate.

Is this not something a TECHNICAL SUPPORT AGENT should know? He could have saved me two hours of my life I can’t get back with one simple sentence.

Reminder to self: Find new cell phone service when contract expires!

Been there. It is extremely irritating. Ten years ago when I didn’t have all these extra gadgets and such my life seemed so much simpler.

That’s awful! I would’ve been scared the moment he said there might not be a lot he can do. Isn’t it his job to know this stuff? What a pain!
