The Not-So-MomFit Monday

Back in February, as my belly was blossoming thanks to the 8lb 3oz turkey in there, I made a plan. Me and Plans are two words that don’t go together frequently…I’m terrible at staying on track. Well, the plan was to hold my post baby weight loss routine accountable with MomFit Mondays. Yeah..umm…that didn’t go over so well. Just 4 weeks after Emma was born I had this lovely plan brewing to get back into pre-baby shape. It wasn’t until April that I realized I had set myself up for failure. I had just spent 40 weeks carrying this precious baby girl, draining my body of nutrients, living a sedentary lifestyle. Who was I kidding? No mom should ever put so much pressure on herself to drop weight after having a baby so quickly.

Fast forward, I’m now almost 6 months post partum…it’s TIME! No more excuses. Especially after my husband snapped this not-so-lovely shot of me this past weekend at the IL State Fair.

I don’t care what I have to do, but that has got to go. I look like I’m still 6 months pregnant. Good grief. No wonder I’m wearing size 16 jeans. There’s no excuse for that, 3 kids or not. Look at what Lisa has accomplished. Her crazy little self has 6 kids and she’s worked hard and looks fabulous. I want to look fabulous too!

My goal – I want to get back into my size 12 jeans. The last time I wore those I was around 135lbs which is about as low as I can go weight wise without looking sickly. I know I’ll never be a size 2, that’s just not my body structure.

So here I go, starting today, I’m getting back on the MomFit Monday routine. But I can’t do it alone, I need help and lots of it. There’s nothing more encouraging than friends that care and want to see you succeed…guilt works too. So if you see me on twitter, yell at me to drop the Oreo. (chances are I’ll have one nearby) Drop me some comments with your tried and true methods, especially when it comes to kicking the soda habit. This will be by far my biggest hurdle ever. Since I’m baring all, I might as well tell you…I probably consume at least 1200 calories a day in Mountain Dew alone. (hides head in shame). It’s a terrible habit to have and it must be stopped.

eaactiveI also have two tools on hand to get my tooshie moving.

The lovely Kathryn at EA sent me the EA Sports – Active Personal Trainer Kit for Wii to help whip my buns into shape. It’s exactly what I’m looking for in an “at home gym” tool and will be updating each week as my journey progresses.

Next in my flabby belly fighting arsenal is the Flirty Girl Fitness series. Greg over at Telling Dad introduced me to this seductive workout DVD set and I thought it flirtygirlwould be fun to alternate my days with fun workouts that focused on dance. Afterall, I loved dancing in high school for the Pom Squad and might as well put a few of those skills to use.

So wish me luck, drop some tips or join in!

I really need to get back into shape too so maybe I’ll take a note from you and make my own plan.

  7. I saw that flirty girl fitness video he did I laughed so hard I had to stop watching.

Guilty of the same thing you stopped and so did I my kids start school in a week thats my Q.

Rember the rule: Took 10m to put the weight on you should give yourself 12months to get it off.

  8. I know you can do it… but don’t give up everything all at once. Make sure you allow yourself some snacks you love, just in small amounts. I was able to lose 40 pounds a couple of years ago, but I did it by drinking lots of water, portion control, eating lots of fruit, and allowing myself the snacks I love by taking a small portion out of the bag: like 3 Oreos, instead of taking the bag of Oreos to the computer with me! :-) I know exactly how that feels – I gotta have me them Double Stuff!!! I have put back on about 15 pounds since my spine surgery, but that is because of lack of movement… but I am back up to walking a little more each day and eating more fruit again. So I’ll be losing with you… ONWARD WE GO!!!
