I love Fisher Price as much as the next mom but and it’s a big BUT, I’m highly disappointed in their latest version of the Jumperoo. We first bought the Rain Forrest Jumperoo in late 2007 for our daughter Kaydence. It was the best purchase we made in her first year of life. She could go from room to room, self entertain, and bounce the hours away while I got some housework done. It was the first toy we’d bought in 6 years of raising kids that out valued the box it came in. And we all know how much kids love those boxes!
Fast forward to last month. We’re cleaning out the garage to find the Jumperoo for our youngest, Emmaleigh. Digging, tossing boxes, searching everywhere, we find every single piece except one…a support leg. It mysteriously disappeared.
Off to the store we go to pick up the same product and low and behold, it’s not on the shelve of a single store. What we did find was it’s newest version, the Fisher Price Precious Planet Jumperoo. It’s adorable! Little monkey seat, dangling leaves, the usual assortment of toys and one new feature that we noticed wasn’t part of the old Jumperoo, curved legs. Strange, but no big deal, we bought it.
Right out of the box it gave me a headache to the point that after one week I just couldn’t take it anymore and sent it right to the garage to collect dust. And this is why…
Is that not the most ANNOYING squeak you’ve ever heard?
Okay, maybe it’s not the worst but if you listen to it for 20 minutes straight it’s enough to make you want to toss it through the nearest window. The sad part is Emma loved it. She actually put herself to sleep with her rhythmic swaying but mommy just couldn’t take the squeak and it’s sadly been retired to the garage after just one week. Had I saved the box, it would have been sent straight back to the store and I wouldn’t be out $70.

I have the old version too and my Cranky Pants LOVED it. Bought it off of Craigs list for $35. There has to be something you can do with that. Vaseline the squeek or something. Were you able to figure out where the noise is coming from? Call them up and complain and play your video for them so they can hear the sqeeking. There has to be something.
Looks like she enjoyed her swaying. My Cranky pants would do the same thing.
Yep, tried the WD-40 and no luck, it’s just the way the legs are constructed. They don’t hold tight but rather wiggle side to side.
We are currently borrowing older version for my daughter, who I thought would LOVE it. But, she just doesn’t get into it. Sadly, she’d rather be literally getting into every thing else around the house. Sigh…
I can see how that squeak becomes poke your eyes out annoying after a couple minutes.
Yes, I would be beyond annoyed with that squeaking! We have enough noise with some of the toys, am I right?
Call Fisher Price, you could have bought a replacement leg and maybe they can help you with the squeaking on your new jumperoo. Either way sell your pieces on craigslist, the jumperoo’s go well.
I’ve heard of Craigslist but never tried it. Might have to give that a shot.
Oh no! We have the old version in our shed from our son in 2007-HOPEFULLY when we go to take it out-we’ll have all the pieces! Thanks for the heads up on the new one just in case!
First of all, I have to say that your baby is absolutely adorable!! Yes, that squeak is super annoying. It makes you wonder if you just got a bad one…and if not, wouldn’t they test these before selling them to make sure they don’t do that?? Very strange. It is awfully cute. Did you try disassembling it and reassembling? I don’t know…just throwing ideas out there for you! Good luck!
She is a dollie, but MAN that would totally annoy the crap out of me too.

If it doesn’t have what you need, try contacting Fisher Price.
oh, and if that doesn’t work, try buying a new Precious Planet one, saving the box, and see if it squeaks too. If it does, take it back and complain to Fisher Price. You could even try linking to this article. Companies don’t like bad publicity and will often do cartwheels to make it better.
And I’m not all here today. If the new one doesn’t squeak, take the one that does back in the box the new one came from.
Holy cow- I don’t blame you that would make me want to drive a spike in my head after a while.
Hope they do something to make it right.
Emma is too cute
that is a lot of squeaking!
My kids loved the over the door version, but ditto on the selling off the parts. You might be able to try a Just Between Friends Sale too (since I’m a bit wary of Craigs List and someone coming to my house)
That stinks! Thanks for the heads up! It’s really cute! I would def sell it on Craigslist! I bet it would sell really well esp since it was brand new!! I’ve bought and sold many things on Craigslist. I’ve never had a problem with people. I’m usually a good judge of people though. You don’t have to let them in your house. You could always ship it if you felt more comfortable! Good Luck!
Hi! I review and am on Mommy Panels for Fisher Price. DEFINITELY call them. They have a wonderful customer service staff that will certainly help you
We have the Rainforest one in storage, but will be getting it out once our second baby arrives. Thank you for letting us know about the new one….hopefully we have all the pieces to our Rainforest one still.
She is such a cutie… sorry about the squeek, but I must be getting old and losing my hearing, because I really didn’t notice it. Maybe because it’s been so long since I had a baby in the house I was just overtaken by her beautiful face.
Definitely contact FP, they are a great company and I’m sure they will want to make it right for you.
Mmm. .. so glad to know that! Hey I have some what of a personal question that has nothing to do with the toy… Its about your 3 Kids.. I have been looking for blogs with moms of 3 kids with little luck.. I want to know how it is going from 2 to 3 kids? Is it a lot harder ..? Do you feel more tied down than before? The reason I am asking is because my husband would like to have another child when are 4 month old turns one or so. (thats when he would like to start trying again)… Im just unsure If I could handle… another one? Any advice? Oh, I guess I should tell you that I have a 2 year old also.. aaa!
Honestly, my first thought is…..run far far far away from the idea. LOL But that wouldn’t mean our youngest, Emma, was a mistake and she certainly isn’t. Truth is, had she not been a surprise we would have planned her when our 2nd child was at least 3 or 4 and potty trained. Having a 6yr old and newborn was easy as pie, having a 7yr old, 1 1/2 yr old and newborn was a nightmare for the first 4 months but it’s definitely getting easier. We’ve just learned to adjust a bit.
My advice, don’t set anything in stone, you’ll know when the time is right. Or you can just do like I did and go camping with your husband with no birth control….then nature will take care of the plans for you.
LOL!! you are so funny! Looking forward to following your blog!!
aaa good times
OMG! That would drive me insane!
