When you’re a new mom one of the first things that comes up on the registry “must have” items is baby proofing gear. You’ll find products like electrical outlet plugs, cabinet locks, toilet cover locks, you name it, it’s available. What no one tells you is the real danger is not to your baby or even from your baby, it’s from your toddler! In fact, they should call it “toddler proofing”.
While we do go through the usual security measures of baby proofing our home we overlooked the fact that our 2 year old Kaydence can find many more dangers throughout our home than our crawling baby can. Our problem with getting the house fully baby and toddler proofed is how time consuming it can be. There are so many products out there, most of which require tools to create a permanent fixture on your cabinets and drawers. It’s nearly impossible for us moms to find every single danger lurking.
Recently we were introduced to DreamBaby home safety products that promise “No Tools, No Screws” which is right up my alley! I’ll admit, I’m pretty lazy and really don’t like the idea of damaging my cabinets and fixtures for temporary safety devices. I’m absolutely loving the 35 piece Safety Kit from DreamBaby that includes baby and toddler proofing products that I would never have thought of.
For starters, this little foam piece. Check it out below. This prevents your doors from closing on those adventurous little fingers. Mommy confession – I have closed a door on my son’s fingers when he was a little toddler and let me tell you it was the most horrible feeling for me as a mom to do that to my child. This one little foam door stopper can prevent that from happening to anymore of my children.
Another piece we’ve never remembered to pick up are corner cushions. These soft come with adhesive tape and are perfect for the the corners of your desk, or in our case, the corners of the foot of our bed where our 2 year old often bumps the side of her head.
Our most recent issue is with our toddler’s curious little hands and her need to see what’s in every single drawer throughout the house. The flexible safety latch is perfect for cabinets and dresser drawers so that you still have access but your toddler doesn’t! What I really love about this particular latch is that it won’t damage the finish of our furniture and doesn’t need any screws.
Overall, I’m feeling much better about the safety of our home by using the DreamBaby 35 piece safety kit and my toddler is feeling a bit more frustrated that she can’t get into all of our cabinets.

I have yet to even think about babyproofing since Sarah STILL isn’t crawling….
I so need something for the kitchen cabinets and drawers. The boys are in and out of them every hour. Seems to become a place of play for them. My dd never much cared to play there but these boys want to be in everything.
we have baby proofed our home too. i agree, i like the non permanent fixes better than what we used. our cabinet locks will only be a home selling plus to buyers with young children.
Their Bathroom Value Pack looks great! I need something like that because my toddler is always getting into stuff.
Oooh, I love these! Good to know that you can get this stuff at Target and Walmart.
Great review!
Oh, did I tell you you got an award from me?
The Over the Top Blog Award! lol It’s fun. http://kindredspiritreviews.blogspot.com/2009/10/over-top-blog-award.html
Thank You Thank You Thank You!!! My son started crawling OVER NIGHT about a week ago!! And I’m not proofed yet and I don’t know what to buy. I’m bookmarking this page and checking out the website. Anyone know the best gate for the top of stairs?
toddlers are SUCH a full time job!! Keep your camera handy!!
It is amazing what kind of trouble kiddies can get into with out these safety devices. It’s just too bad that hubby couldn’t figure out how to use them very well. lol
I like this being sold as kit, everything in one box. this would make a great baby shower gift.
what a great kit daughter continues to run to store each time she needs a new piece this kit would save her from all of that.
