This was our first Christmas with all three kids and boy was it as exhausting as ever. By 8:30am we had two of the kids banging on the door ready to go check the tree but I required coffee and croissant before anything. I ended up entertaining the kids in my bedroom until we finished breakfast and then it was present time!
With the kids all dressed in their new Christmas Eve pajamas, they just went wild. First to the tree was our 2 year old Kaydence, grabbing every Dora wrapped present she could find. By the time Emma made it from the doorway to the tree she was standing in a massive pile of paper in complete confusion. After a bit of poking around she settled on eating the presents rather than opening them.
By the time it was all said and done, the kids were hyped and us parents, well, we could have used a little nap.
While I didn’t have anything under the tree from my husband this year, I did find one little gift…the kind that keeps on giving…for 18 years and then some. Happy First Christmas baby Emmaleigh!
As much as I’d like to say that was the end of Christmas, it wasn’t. I spent the rest of the day doing last minute clean up, baking cheddar sausage ball appetizers, and prepping Christmas dinner:
- Baked Cook’s Bone-in Ham with pineapple, cherries and brown sugar glaze
- Green beans with fried onions and bacon
- Whipped Potatoes
- Cherry Jello with Mandarin Oranges
- Fresh baked rolls with butter
- Checkerboard Cheesy Macaroni & Cheese
- Fruit Salad – made by mom
- Watergate Salad – made by sister
- Broccoli Salad – made by sister
- Spicy Creamed Corn – made by sister
- and a chocolate yule log for dessert – made by mom
I’d love to hear what special gifts you received this year!

That is so precious. My gift was the excitement on my daughters face. She says this was her best Christmas ever. Merry Christmas Cat.

Glad your kids enjoyed their Christmas. Don’t worry, I didn’t get gifts either but its ok with me. Seeing my kids excitement was enough for me! Once we get our taxes back I’ll get something nice for myself! He he! Happy New Year!
Aww it seems like they really enjoyed Xmas. I love the last pic of Emmaleigh on all the presents, very cute! My son was excited to get tons of Elmo toys and the biggest one was an Elmo kitchen I found for $30 (new)!! I was happy to receive a watch and VS perfume from my hubby.
Looks like it was a fun and slightly chaotic (is there any other way with kids) Christmas at your house. Love the princess outfit!
Merry Christmas.
It looks like a wonderful day (though a little hectic). Adorable pics!
Happy holidays!
Oh man! That is a lot of presents! It sounds like they had a great time!
Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
Woah! That’s a lot of presents under that tree!!! The little one dressed in super cute jammies is my fave! lol She is so cute!
And your christmas dinner sounds fab! YUM!!! Glad to see you had a good Christmas. Sorry you didn’t get your kitty.
sounds like quite a Christmas and the kids are adorable The feast sounds extrodinary as well
Aw sweet! My favorite picture is the last one-Can you find the baby amongst the pile of presents?!? hehe
It sounds like you all had a wonderful Christmas! I remember when my sister and I were that age-Instead of waking up the parents, we would sneak out at like 4 am and just poke around seeing if we could figure out what everything was. Lol
This Christmas, I got mostly cloths which was AMAZING cause now I won’t freeze and die when I go outside. Lol Amongst the cloths there were a couple of DVDs for our collection, a soundtrack from one of my favorite movies, girly stuff like nailpolish and makeup brushes, and a few other odds and ends.
Mum was worried that it wasn’t going to be ‘enough,’ but honestly, I was perfectly content and happy
Stopping by from 5MFM!
LOVE the pic of your lil one in all the presents! Too cute! Your dinner sounded wonderful…our plans got canceled after 2 of our 3 kids fell ill…so all we had was the cheesy potatoes we were supposed to take with us and some smoked sausage…oh well. We’re having a “Re-do’ with family next week!
Eating the presents! LOL!!! too cute!
Merry Christmas!!
Yeah…hectic at our house too! I am always up so late with insomnia, so when the kids whine to go down to open gifts I am still a bit “grinchy”. It is always last minute and up late the night before…you’d think we’d learn!!!
Your little one is adorable sitting there on the stack of presents…I’d say your kids are pretty precious gifts.
I already told you in email that I got a screen for my little laptop I broke by getting my thumb caught in it one day…yeah, bright one! AND I got a really warm blanket from my husband because I am always cold and dragging one around like Linus (Charlie Brown friend). My youngest got me some Wisconsin Badger sleep pants I really wanted and was SO proud giving me it wrapped by herself. My best present was watching my tiny Grandkids run around the house, chase the dog, eat handfuls of treats and get REALLY excited while opening gifts (even superhero undies!) as we don’t get to see them often.
Awwww… WOWWWWW at all the gifts the baby is sitting on LOL! MERRY CHRISTMAS {a lil late} – it looks like you guys had a wonderful day! We had quite a feast also haha I love to cook… and I feel you about the clean up! *Whew* It took 2 30-gallon trash bags just to get all the wrapping paper and packaging thrown out! I posted pics on my blog as well.
LOVE the picture of Emma on the pile of gifts, the one of Kaydee in the crown, and the one of all the kids in their jammies – I got my youngest the same pair one year as Matt’s.
You look like you all had a fabulous time and the meal looks so yummy!
My hubby got me a Kindle because he knows I LOVE to read, but because of my neck problem and the nerve damage, I sometimes have trouble holding up books – what a sweetie. He also got me one of the Jane Seymour “Open Hearts” necklaces, which I mentioned that I thought was beautiful one time when I saw the commercial. Plus he got me the new Scrabble Diamond Edition game so we could play together – again something I mentioned I liked doing with him.
My youngest son got me a snuggie because he knows how much I hate being cold, and Nano likes to snuggle with me under it.
It was a really nice day, but the best part was hearing from all our collective children, especially Nikolaus, who is on leave from his final training before he is deployed to Afghanistan on 1/2/10.
All the best to your family from ours…
They are so adorable
beautiful pictures, glad your Christmas was great!
I love that shot with your little one in the pile of all those presents!!! Soooooo cute.
