Wordless Wednesday – Thumb, it’s what’s for dinner!

We finally did it! We got ourselves a thumb sucker! I know it’s not usually an exciting thing but this our third child and neither of the first two ever sucked their thumbs. I thought ALL babies did this and mine were just weird. lol Imagine my surprise when I see litle Emma doing this…

Thumb suckers are great, love the self pacification…unfortunately I am trying to get my newly three year old to stop the occassional tasting of the thumb. But my littlest is new at thumb sucking & I am happy about it!

  2. Cat,

The picture is adorable. We opted for the other type of pacifier (a.k.a. paapaa) because we thought it would be easier to wean them from the sucking when they grew older. When it was time for each of them to get off of it (by 2 1/2 mths), the paapaa mysteriously (seriously, I had nothing to do w/it – really) disappeared. My youngest is going through withdrawals (almost one week now) and it is killing both of us. Just one more week (hopefully) and maybe he will stop asking for it.

Awww…how cute! My youngest is a thumb sucker and we can’t get her to stop! Her thumb gets all cracked and red and looks like it hurts but she doesn’t care! Happy WW to ya…tomorrow! lol ;)

  4. Staci A says:

Absolutely adorable! Thumbs are so much easy than pacifiers (and cheaper if your little one constantly loses them like mine did).

  5. Allison says:

That is so adorable! None of my babies sucked their thumbs but i think it’s the cutest thing in the world when they do!

  6. That is so sweet and peaceful!

Awww, how sweet and precious. I just love baby pics.

  8. What a sweet photo. Omg. So sweet. She looks beautiful. On another note, congrats on having a thumn sucker. hehe

Happy WW from Sara @ the Mostly Wordless Wednesday H.Q.!

  9. My babies never sucked on their thumbs either. Maybe it’s because I always had a pacifier handy for them. There are benefits and cons to thumb-sucking and pacifiers. I love it when they can finally get to the age where they can put the pacifier into their own mouth. I would assume that happens a lot soon with thumb-sucking.

  10. Kris says:

I want a thumb sucker lol

  11. Janelle says:

What a cute picture! No pacifiers or thumb suckers in our house. Just a lot of crying.

  12. Bridgette says:

Awwww….I miss those tiny baby days!! She is precious!

  13. Yeah for thumb sucking! My son doesn’t do it, nor does he use the pacifier. I’m his human pacifier and it sucks that he can’t self soothe!

  14. Jess says:

Precious! None of my kids sucked their thumbs either…we have 4!

  15. harriet says:

    I had a thumb sucker.
    Cute pic.

  16. She is a beautiful baby! I had a thumb sucker too. Let me tell you it is HARD to break the habit. You can’t give the thumb to Santa Claus like you can the pacifier! She is just precious. Happy early Mother’s Day!

  17. Karen says:

That is just the cutest thing. None of my 3 babies ever sucked their thumbs either.

  18. Renee says:

She is beautiful!! Neither of my boys were thumb suckers either, but I don’t think we will try for a third to find out.LOL

  19. Rhea says:

That is the sweetest thing EVER! I love it.

  20. Brandi says:

I always thought thumb sucking was very adorable. We have had one that sucked her thumb, and two that sucked on their blankies. And two pacie babies.
