Introducing the Philips goLITE BLU
The Philips goLITE BLU energy light is a portable light therapy device which is designed to help you increase your energy level naturally and fight winter blues. Its small size makes it easy to use wherever it suits you best.
Clinically proven* – Independent clinical research shows that the blue light from the summer sky triggers our bodies to be active and energetic, and regulates our mood.
Helps to fight winter blues – Using the goLITE energy light for as little as 15 to 45 minutes a day naturally improves your mood and energy level throughout the day.
Features
- built in clock
- treatment reminder alarm
- backlit touch screen
The following information was provided by Ketchum PR as a summary following a webinar I attended with Oz Garcia Ph.D, a highly regarded nutritional counselor and life extension specialist.
What is the “Winter Blues”?
An estimated 10-20% of adults (or more than 10 million people each year in N. America) suffer from symptoms of the “Winter Blues,” including:
- Loss of energy
- Low spirits
- Difficulty with concentration
- Increased appetite
How do we Fight the Winter Blues?
- Increase Physical Activity
- Increase your Diet with Complex Carbohydrates such as oatmeal and yams
- Eat foods rich in Vitamin D such as salmon, tuna and fortified milk
- Use a Light Energy Device with Blue Light
Our Experience
Living in a part of the United States that offers frequent seasonal changes, experiencing the winter blues is not uncommon. In fact, every Fall I notice my mood change. With the weather getting cooler, I spend less time outdoors and become moody in the sense that I sleep longer hours, have less energy and eat more, particularly sweets. As spring rolls around, much like it is now, I find myself feeling quite the opposite, wanting to go outside and enjoy the day, spending less time digging through the cabinets and feel like myself again.
One way I’ve found to combat these seasonal changes is with light therapy. For the past month and a half I’ve been using the Philips goLITE Blu Energy Light after swapping it with my other light therapy desk lamp. One of the biggest differences I noticed is the light itself. While many lights like my own use a white light, the Philips goLITE BLU uses a blue light. Blue Light helps to restore the essential light signals needed to boost our mood and energy levels naturally.
The one thing I really love about the Philips goLITE Blu over a traditional white light therapy desk lamp is its portable size. At just 14 x 14 inches in size along with the travel case, it can be easily and discreetly used in any room of the house or during travel. I’ve also found that the blue light is much easier on my eyes and can easily be adjusted to the appropriate strength needed.
Now of course, light therapy isn’t just something you should just jump right into. To create the perfect schedule for your needs, Philips offers and online Circadian Rhythm Test to determine the severity of your problem, if one exists and the appropriate schedule to use.
Room for Improvement
The touchscreen interface, while technologically advanced, was very confusing to setup. The user guide would be very handy to keep on hand should you need to make adjustments to your light therapy schedule.

I definitely fight the winter blues every winter season. Love that it takes a small amount of time to see an improvement 15-465 minutes a day.
I definately experience winter blues, I have every single winter. I think the “blue” light feature is nice because it’s more calming than a “white” light. Thanks for the chance!

What a neat concept! I really like the size that easily transports and the travel case is
a nice plus, also. I am on two anti-depressants and 1 anti-anxiety medication and have
been told that I have SAD. Please enter my name in your fabulous drawing.

I have the blues, I like the reminder alarm.
My husband gets winter blues big time. The Rechargeable battery and travel case
Sleek design and rechargable battery make the device easy to use, store and travel with.
He could use it anywhere
Yep, got the winter blues here. The remainder alarm is my favorite feature.

I have a tendency to get depressed in the winter! I think the fact that this improves mood and energy would be quite helpful! The alarm feature would also help me remember to actually do it! This seems all around a great item! xoxo
When the skies are grey for days or weeks at a time – I get the winter blues. The size and portability of the Philips goLITE BLU make it useful wherever I am in the house.
Thanks for the giveaway!

Yes I have the winter blues. I am so sick of the snow. I like the reminder alarm.
I learned that using this light for as littleas 15 to 45 minutes a day, improves your mood and energy level. And living in ‘gray skies” Michigan, I really need this!

Yes, I do think I am experiencing the “winter blues” and I think the featue I like would like the most is that you can use it everywhere!

The feature I would like the best is the built in remined because I often forget things. After having no sunlight & really hating the cold weather I will say I have the winter blues..This weather is just depressing & that all there is to it..
I do feel pretty down when I am stuck in the house on cold and rainy days. I like the fact that it uses LED lights that have a 50 year lifetime.
I know I suffer. It was much worse when we lived up north and we were stuck inside most of the time. The feature that I like is the travel size.

I’ll tell you this much, I certainly have the winter blues of a different sort. I’m sad that winter’s about to end, because here in Arizona, that can only mean that summer is just around the corner.
I think the fact that the goLITE is clinically proven to increase our body’s energy and regulates our mood would certainly be of good use to my worries.

This is amazing – haven’t heard of it before so I’m glad I saw this. I definitely suffer from SAD – living in the dreary gray northern/midwest. I love the fact that it is portable so anyone in our house could use it each day!
My son and I both have SAD. I don’t leave my house more than once or twice a month in winter, just to grocery shop, etc. When I was in my twenties the doc said I had the bones of an 80 year old due to hip dysplasia. My son’s teacher mentioned she thought he had SAD and the doctor agreed. This light could be a big help. I would try anything that could give us more energy.

I am sure I am suffering from winter blues. If it doesn’t get sunny soon I think I am going to have to go to the dr its gotten so bad. We have had over 200 inches of snow this season and I have been sick most of it so have really been housebound. I like that the light is so small. Its hard to find places to put things as it is.
I am signed up for email updates.
This Winter has been especially hard to endure – not only did we have much more snow here in South New Jersey but there were far fewer sunny days than usual. Other Winters I’ve been able to find a sheltered spot on the deck for 10 or 15 minutes of sun at least twice a week, but not this year! If I win this great product I will use it at the computer desk EVERY day!
I think the point that it could boost my energy level is a plus for me. it’s small and compact too
Its small size and portability (battery-powered) mean that I could use it anywhere in my house.
I always feel down during the winter months. I like that it has a wide field of light which enables you to do other tasks while benefiting from the blu light
My family could benefit from this – and the timer is a great function.
I experience the winter blues all year long because of constant stress that I don’t deserve. I think the treatment reminder alarm would be the best feature.
I do think I experienced the winter blues. The feature I would find most useful are both the adjustable timer and adjustable light intensity.

I do get the blues, try to get outside as much as I can in winter but it’s hard. I like that it has a wider treatment field and the bulbs are supposed to last 50years if used 30 min a day.
Yes I am experiencing the winters blues.
I would like the reminder.
Yeah, I think I’m ready for spring so I’d say I have some winter blues. I like that it is compact so that you can take it places with you.

I know I have had the blues, my mood swings give it away! Hope this might help!
I am experiencing the winter blues and want this to help with only 15 minutes
Yes, every year I get the blues in the winter. This would be wonderful to have. I like that it has rechargable batteries, will save money and save the environment!
I like the brightness adjustment, this would be great to have, we’re surrounded by oak trees and this time of year the house seems much too dark.
I am not as bad this winter as I have been in the past, we had a new dog so did get out in the sun more, I definitely noticed a difference in how I felt compared to another winter when we had 3 foot of snow for 4 months, I was irritable and restless to say the least.
I like that the LEDs have a 50 year life, that’s refreshing after so many things are built to self destruct
