On Tuesday, my husband will be undergoing surgery to fix a deviated septum he’s had his entire life but never knew about. They will also be removing clusters of polyps that have been blocking his nasal passages for months, which explains why the man can’t ever smell anything.
Clearly, this is not a life threatening or major surgery, but it’s surgery none the less and I’m feeling apprehensive about it. I’m not sure why especially given the fact that it’s not my nose they’re going to be cutting into, it won’t be me spending a week at home in pain…it’s just going to be me watching him in pain and taking care of him. Yet, I still feel uneasy about it. Doctors are like everyone else, quite capable of mistakes.
Providing everything goes smoothly, this will be the first step in getting to the root of his snoring and sleep apnea issues and a step closer to me getting at least one night of peaceful sleep and that we’ll both be thankful for.

I hope everything goes well. I know how men can be when they have “any” procedure. I do hope it helps everyone get a better night of sleep! Good luck to you and your family.
Thank you Sara! I hope it goes well too…and boy oh boy I don’t even want to imagine how whiny he’s going to be. I’ve seen how he reacts to a little cold…this should be interesting to say the least.
Prayers for a smooth and easy surgery as well as the recovery. My dad had the same surgery about ten years back and my sister needs it as well.
thinking of you guys! I hope it all goes well and he comes out of it with relatively little pain and a fast recovery.
I’m sure everything will be just fine. Then you can talk him into the BIG “V” ROFL.
Hope it goes smoothly and he has a quick recovery for everyone’s sake!
I pray it is quick, easy and painless and really helps.
My stepdad has a CPAP machine ( I think that’s what it is called) and he says he feels like a new man after using it!
I’ll be keeping both of you in my thoughts. Hopefully this will help alleviate some of his problems and you both will feel better. Sending good thoughts your way.
Good luck to him! I’m so glad it wasn’t something more serious and I wondered if polyps could have been the cause. Hope everything goes well…I’ll be praying for you guys.
Your family will be in my thoughts. What a wonderful night sleep you will have when this is all done. My husband is a snorer too, he really needs to get in to fix whatever problem there is. I am sure he will get a better nights rest as well.
Hope that his snoring issues are helped by the surgery it clearly is very hard to go through any surgery. Prayers that things turn out well and that you’ll both be gettign a good night sleep soon.
I will be praying for him and for you…hope everything turns out well!!!
Good luck! My husband had it done about 10 years ago, and it went really well. It worked great for a long time, but I think he needs to go back in because he has a lot of nose issues again. but that could just be allergies
I hope everything goes well. It will be so worth it to get a good night’s sleep.
This will be great for him. My husband just had that done and can breathe now. He also had a deviated septum with built up polyps, which the doctor had to remove. The surgery lasted about 30-45 minutes (not sure how long because I was filling prescriptions and making sure insurance information was correct). It was a little weird to see him drugged up, but that wore off within a few hours.
Hang in there! He’ll do great!
I’ll have you guys in my prayers! I understand what you’re feeling – I would feel the same way if it was my husband.
((hugs)) hope everything goes well!!!Thoughts and prayers going your way guys
I will be sending healing energies to your husband and the family!!
Even though it’s a minor surgery, you are extremely correct in the assumption that it’s surgery none the less(surgery=ALWAYS scary).
Hang in there!
I had this same surgery done… goodness, it’s been more than 10 years ago. I had THE best doctor and anesthesiologist. I doubt if it’ll take a full week for recovery. He’ll do fine and being able to breathe (and smell) again is definitely a plus!
Good luck and I hope the process is quick and great! I’ll have your family in my thoughts.
I will keep him on my prayer list. I have had a few friends that have had problems and then come to find out that it had been that way since birth. My hopes are that he feels much better after the surgery
