New from National Geographic Kids: 2010 Almanac
Dare to explore—from modern day adventures to close calls and narrow escapes. In this book, amazing animals take readers into the wild and into the water. Readers discover cultural connections from food, currency, literature and lots more from around the world. Filled with maps, facts and more this book helps readers learn to go green and help our threatened earth!
Over the past year, reading has become an important part of my son’s bedtime routine. It’s a time for him to unwind from physical activity and explore his imagination before drifting off to sleep. It’s also a time he gets to spend one on one with his younger sister, Kaydee. Together they flip through pages of books, learning, growing and becoming closer as brother and sister.
Last night they spent nearly an hour discovering the National Geographic Kids 2010 Almanac. Flipping through pages of amazing photography and discovering new facts about the world around us, my son couldn’t wait to tell us all about what he learned the next morning.
I asked my 8 year old son, Mattison, to pick out his favorite part of the book…after about the 12th “favorite” he finally settled on the section called Geography Rocks, more specifically on Antarctica. This particular section of the book covers topics like map, continents, landmarks and more.
What’s in the 2010 Almanac?
There are over 300 pages of amazing photos, facts and activities for kids divided into color tabbed sections that covers everything from Extreme Sports to the inner workings of the human body.
Other Features include:
- Your World 2010
- Going Green
- Super Science
- History Happens and more
As a parent, I find the Almanac not only fascinating for me, but very educational for my children. I also think it would make excellent study material during the summer months to help our son brush up on subjects he learned throughout the previous year.

not sure how to add a button or banner to my blog! I think my kids would love a magazine subscription! My youngest (7) loves getting mail and would have fun learning about the animals! Me? the spiders (remote control) would scare the heck out of me! I am not afraid of little spiders, but anything bigger than my fingernail ……makes me shudder! LOL!
