January is National Thyroid Awareness Month and Fibro360
When you think of thyroid disorders, what comes to mind? Hyperthyroidism? Hypothyroidism? Sure, those are well known and fairly common disorders. What about Fibromyalgia? I bet you didn’t think of that one, I know I didn’t. But the truth is, Fibromyalgia affects millions of Americans and people throughout the world each year.
In fact, a significant percentage of people diagnosed with hypothyroidism also are diagnosed with Fibromyalgia – a syndrome that is characterized by widespread joint and muscle pain and tenderness, fatigue, and exhaustion after sleep and after effort.
What is the Thyroid?
The thyroid is a small gland located in the middle of the lower neck, which produces hormones that regulate many functions including temperature, weight gain, and weight loss. Many Americans experience various problems with the functioning of their thyroid.
Signs that your Thyroid may not be functioning properly:
- sudden weight gain or increase in body fat
- inability to lose weight despite proper diet and exercise
- fatigue, insomnia or restless sleep, anxiety or panic attacks
- gas, bloating, diarrhea, or constipation
- chronic sinusitis or lingering infections

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism two years ago. My mom was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. Women need to become more aware of thyroid problems. For years I suffered with clinical depression and was mistreated for it with antidepressant medication which didn’t much help. It wasn’t until I was diagnosed with a hyperthyroid condition and put on thyroid medication that my depression lifted.

I became a FAcebook FAn of Fibro 360 and actually have followed their info from their Fatigue centers for a while.I DO have CFS, Fibromyalgia, and LYME but cannot afford to be treated correctly with no insurance coverage for specialized care.
I have read the “Good Doctor’s books though, and he has GREAT information for many who do not HAVE to have chronic disease. He has been on Dr. Oz and has been sick with this horrible affliction in his past too. He is a brilliant and outgoing, caring doctor from what I can see…wish I could meet him someday. I have lost 9 years to this horrible stuff already and the past year mostly bedbound…
