Okay, so I lied, this isn’t going to be “wordless” but I did meet Paula Deen, well, maybe meet is too strong of a word. I sat 10 feet away from her and managed not to squeal like a 14 year old girl at a Jonas Brothers concert. What I did do was clap, smile and take just enough photos to remember the 30 minutes in her presence without looking like a camera happy crazy fan. I also managed to click at all the wrong moments and go a bunch of funny faced photos. But you know what, that’s okay because Paula Deen is an animated, charismatic Southern lady that just wouldn’t be properly captured without her funny expressions and all.

omg i’m so jealous. I love Paula Dean . I love watching her shows and would love to cook like her but I would gain a million pounds.
Do you know if it is true that she is getting a divorce? I read it some where and I have searched online but can’t find it anywhere.
I can’t say for sure but I’ll say this, when they were teasing each other and making “beating the meat” jokes, it wasn’t something you’d hear a divorcing couple say. LOL
I sure hope not , I always loved it when she had him on her shows. They make such a cute couple. Oh I would love to visit the area she lives in , looks to be an older area and her restaurant also! I think I should add that to the list of things I would love to do in my life time.
oh, I’m so jealous! I would love to not only meet her but gorge myself with her butter laden foods. I’d happily go off my diet in a second if I had that chance!
Oh hahahaaaa!!! That last one is PRICELESS!!!
Love it!
Cat,
You got some funny ones, but like you said, she is so animated anyway. You probably shouldn’t have mentioned it because we would have just thought Paula was being herself. I know you with your butter cooking self – you said so – (I like butter too) was just too happy to be so close to her. I would have enjoyed it also.
Isn’t it amazing how excited one gets to see their cooking idol? I got to meet Rachael Ray a few years ago at a book signing. My oldest son and I are fans (of her cooking show). He didn’t act 14, but he did act three, which he was at the time. He talked about her all the way up to the table and then ran away from her when she spoke to him.
I saw her from afar at BlogHer! It would have been so cool to watch her and see her cooking. Looks like you had some fun!
I didn’t see her doing any cooking, but her husband was up on the stage rubbing the meat with seasoning while she walked around and talked to the audience. I missed her deep fried turkey on Tuesday.
That last shot caught her personality perfectly.
Yay! Great pictures, Cat! Those are so fun. I’m so glad you had a great time at the show.
OMG that is awesome! Too bad she didn’t cook for everyone.
I love Paula! I wouldn’t have been able to hold the squeals in!!
I love Paula Deen!!!
Now THAT is awesome!
I love her too. She is such a character. Your photos are great!
I’m glad you had a great time, you are one brave girl riding around in Chicago.
Aww — Paula! Love her expression in the final shot.
That is so awesome! I probably would have been squealing and not so subtle. LOL
Wow, how neat is this! I’m glad you had a great time. I can’t help but giggle a little at the last picture of her.
Very exciting! I wish I could cook like her! (Okay, maybe with a little less butter.)
So cool! Paula Deen is just FUN to watch on TV, can’t imagine how funny she is irl! Love that last photo. Happy WW!
glad you got to see her…
she is from my homestate… and i still have not met her! UGH
How cool is that? I love her expression in that last picture.
Oh I love her! Her personality is just so darn cute!
I like the last one. Happy St. Patrick’s Day.

That rocks!!! I bet you had a ton of fun!!!
I’m so glad for you. Sound really excited too! It must’ve been a real treat. Unfortunately, I don’t know who she is until today, but I’m still happy for you! ~hehe~ Happy St. Patty’s Day! Have a great sunny day!
Yo, Just stopping by on this Wordless…. I mean wordful… on this sunny day. Have a good one!
You are soo lucky that you got to see her. I was so overwhelmed with the show that I could barely find anything.
I am a fan of Paula Deen and have used plenty of her recipes in my own family’s meals. My mom even went as far as giving me one of her cookbooks for Christmas. We are still enjoying the recipes in it.
BTW, these photos are priceless. You captured her in all of her animated fineness.
Take care,
Shynea
How thrilling and what fun that must have been. Lucky you!
OMGosh, I love Paula Deen and so does my SIL’s. I think I would have just stood there and peed my pants.
She is a true role model. Someone who managed to go from nothing to having it all.
Aw how fun! I love Paula Deen!
I Love her I have always said I want to go to her house for dinner some day, I love her personality and her show I even bought her cookwear!!!!
So jealous – LOVE that last picture!
Oh man I LOVE Paula Deen! I want her to adopt me.
Paula is the only one I like to watch. She has such a nice personality and makes cooking seem fun. MH would love it if I cooked like her! One day she even fried mac n cheese–he saw it and wanted to try it out but I haven’t. Knowing me I would mess it up.
LOVE it and boy do I love me some Paula. I just bought Isabella her My First Cookbook and we are having fun with it.
Happy WW!
Kas
Oh how I HEART Paula Deen!
That is awesome that you got to “meet” her! Woohoo!
Are you gonna smack me if I tell you I don’t really know who she is? I mean I know of her but don’t really know about her. That’s cool that you got to meet, errr sit in the vicinity of someone you admire so much!
Oh!! How fun!! I would have probably squealed! =D
What a great opportunity. I love watching Paula Deen!
OMG I LOVE Paula!!
LOL
She’s just too darn adorable for her own good
I’ve watched her on Oprah several times (And of course on her show). She seems very nice. So glad you got to see her in person!
Is that Paula’s husband next to her? He looks a TEENY bit like Kris Kringle!
My husband and I love her! My husband follows cooking shows but she is one of his favs – if it was practical for him to change careers right now he’d become a chef.
LOVE Paula Deen! In 1998 my husband and I went to Savannah and we went to her restaurant! This was before she really hit the big time.
Wonderful photos! She seems like such a friendly person.

I absolutely love Paula Deen and I especially love cooking any of her recipes. I have several of her cook books and even her cookware (which I love)!
