Blind Dinner

You know, kinda like a blind date where you don’t know who you’ll be meeting, except this is a blind dinner where I don’t know what I’ll be eating.

Here we are in the car doing some shopping and the oh so typical conversation happens.

Jon: What do you wanna do for dinner?
Cat: I don’t know, am I cooking or eating out?
Jon: I don’t know, what you want to do?
Cat: I don’t know, what are you in the mood for?
Jon: It’s too late to cook so let’s eat out.
Cat: Fine. What do you wanna eat?
Jon: Bob Evans?
Cat: No, the mashed potatoes upset my stomach.
Jon: Cracker Barrel?
Cat: No, I don’t like today’s special.
Jon: Spaghetti Shop?
Cat: No, they always mess up my order.
Jon: China Star?
Cat: No, it’ll be cold by the time we get it home.
Jon: Then YOU pick!
Cat: You know what, just drop me off at home, you go pick whatever you want and surprise me. You know what I eat!

So here I am, at my desk, wondering what the hell I just got myself into. Clearly I’m the world’s pickiest eater and here I’ve sent my husband off who will eat ANYTHING to go pick me out a mystery dinner. The funny part is, that entire conversation was leading up to him eliminating everything except Olive Garden so I wouldn’t have to ask for it. If it was his idea he couldn’t get mad at me for suggesting something so expensive.

The real question is…did he read between the lines enough to know what I wanted?

Any takers? Dinner should be here in the next 30 minutes. I’m afraid…very afraid!

I hope you get your Olive Garden!

  2. OMG! My husband and I have the same conversation. I hate trying to decide what to have for dinner. I’ve started doing weekly menus and that is helping. No arguing there! But, it’s the same when we go out! Good luck with your mystery dinner. I bet it’s Taco Bell! : )

    • Cat says:

Aww man don’t say that. Taco Bell always messes up my order too. LOL Next week we’re doing a menu plan and hitting up Sam’s Club, now I just have to figure it all out.

  3. Cat says:

Okay, I just heard the front door and dinner is here…he took longer than normal, man I hope it isn’t Chinese food.

  4. Tiffany says:

What is it??? If it’s Olive Garden then I’m officially jealous. Their breadsticks, salad and Tuscana soup. YUM.

  5. Cat says:

    Dinner arrived and it is….

OLIVE GARDEN! LOL And he even brought me tiramisu…I’m in love!

  6. Toni says:

    Woot go your hubby!!!!

  7. Tiffany says:

Wow, great job to your hubby! Wish I could eat dinner at your house….

  8. Stefanie says:

lol We had almost the same conversation today for lunch. We went back and forth after HE asked ME what *I* wanted but everything I said he said no to. Whatever….he ended up picking Jack In the Box….*gag*!

You have a good hubby! I LOVE Olive Garden!!! Sooo jealous over here!

  9. Jamie says:

Aww! How sweet! This blog (and your replies) makes me miss my hubby even more!

  10. Oh your lucky , he did read between the lines. I seriously think that I’m the only person that doesn’t like Olive Garden. Hope you enjoyed your dinner .

  11. Cat,

I always knew you were my kinda’ gal. Living out here in the sticks, the Olive Garden is the place and I loved it even when we weren’t living in the middle of nowhere. The past few times we’ve eaten out, it’s been there and my husband and children are kind enough to accommodate mommy.

I usually get the same meal, but I NEVER leave the restaurant w/o Tiramisu. I’m going to break down one day and make it for myself. One evening, we tried (worst mistake) a restaurant next door to the Olive Garden and I asked my husband to go to the Olive Garden and buy me some Tiramisu. It was all in the spirit of eating out. I’m glad you got your Olive Garden.

  12. Kayla says:

    Hahahaha!! Oh no!
That’s usually how dinner conversations go around here too.

  13. I am glad that you got your Olive Garden. I love Olive Garden!! I have been married for 21 years and he still has to ask me what I want when we go to McDonalds or Taco Bell, WTH??

    Lucky you!

  14. Kasandria says:

Lol We have that conversation all of the time. I’m lucky b/c my husband is the manager for Olive Garden so I make him sneak me some salad or Chic. Parm. on the weekends lol.
    Kas

    • Cat says:

I’m no home wrecker but can I borrow your husband? LOL I would eat OG every day of the week if I could afford it.

  15. Jen says:

LOL Omg this sounds like me! Cant wait to hear what you got!! LOL

  16. Lori Z. says:

So glad you got Olive Garden! I have had to unleash my pickiness on them because their food is too expensive. Dinner for two shouldn’t be $40 there–and I order a la carte and we don’t drink!

  17. Firefly says:

I love olive garden, I would go there all the time…come to think of it it’s the only restaurant I go to LOL :)

  18. Tamara B. says:

I love Olive Garden love their bread sticks dipped in the alfredo sauce

  19. Emilie says:

Wow, Cat. I’m impressed. Seriously your hubby did good!

Most of the time when my husband orders for me he’ll get some something crazy. (And I wouldn’t call myself a picky person.) Like when I needed to take our son to the bathroom at Ikea he ordered for me. What did he pick out? Salmon. Granted I do like my mom’s grilled salmon but I have NEVER ordered it in a restaurant. Ever. I’ve never made it at home either. They had wraps and other things I would like so what in the world possessed him to get me that? And no I didn’t like it. It was the blandest salmon I’ve ever had but I ate it. (After giving him a bit of a hard time first.)

I love Olive Garden too! Especially the seafood portofino! Mmmm….

  20. awww wooo whooo lets hear it for love my hubby would of took me home and order ed a pizza. I LUV OLIVE GARDEN SALAD!

  21. Way to go hubby! Glad you got what you wanted… I have those conversations with The Hubs so I can “steer” him in the direction of what I want. Husbands are SO gullable. :-)

Gotta love the OG and their soup and bread sticks…
