Growing up, mashed potatoes were a staple at our family dinner table. I can still remember mashing up the potatoes with milk by hand. Now that I’ve grow up and cook for my own family I’ve learned a few tricks of my own. One of my favorite ways to flavor up mashed potatoes is to substitute broth for milk. If we’re having a beef dinner, we use beef broth, if we’re having a chicken dinner we of course use chicken broth.

Ingredients You’ll Need:
- 5 – 6 red skinned potatoes
- 1/2 cup Progresso Chicken Broth
Let’s Get Cooking:
Step 1 – Wash and peel your potatoes, cutting them into 1 1/2 inch cubes.
Step 2 – Boil over a high heat for aproximately 30 minutes, until tender.
Step 3 – Strain potatoes and mix for 1 minute with 1/2 cup of chicken broth.
Try serving these with your next family chicken dinner or with our Panko Crusted Chicken Nuggets and warm chicken gravy.

That’s a good tip. Does it taste much different than milk? I usually put in some milk and a ton of butter… which is bad, I know. I usually buy cans of broth. How long can you keep the containers?
Yummm!
I love mashed potatoes
I love mashed potatoes and everyone says that adding chicken broth makes them even better but since I am such a fan of them, I have been afraid to do it because I will mess up a good thing.
I might be able to squeeze this past the kids. Looks and sounds yummy
You know I have NEVER thought of that. I’ll have to try it.
Kas
I boil mine in broth and then still add cream at the end when I mash them to get both of the flavors in there.
