Looking back at the post title, it sounds more like a strange animated Disney film than a typical day playing with the kids. But then again, there’s nothing too typical about our lives. Most days, I watch the kids getting bigger, louder, faster, and realize that I’m on the sidelines of a 3 ring circus. While each of the kids perform their own little act, I’m getting whiplash trying to keep my attention on all of them.
And then, there are days like yesterday. A day where everything falls into place, everyone is happy and enjoying life. The kind of day that makes my heart smile.
The other day I was thinking about how I’d like to build a sandbox for the girls. It can’t be too difficult right? It was actually one of those projects I wanted to do last summer that just never got started. But then again, who needs a sandbox when my little rock garden seems to be just as entertaining. Now if we can just get Emma to stop trying to eat the rocks!
While Emma spend the afternoon hanging out in the rock garden, Kaydence just couldn’t contain her self. This girl is about as high energy as they get, buzzing all of the place, only stopping to admire the dandelions. She’s also found a new obsession with butterflies, so much so that when a butterfly comes through she goes into full on butterfly mode. Spreading her wings, Kaydee takes off through the yard shouting, “I’m a butterfly! I’m a butterfly!” As fun as it is to watch, I’m sure the neighbors could do with out it, the girl has a voice that can carry.
But the real fun that day was FINALLY getting a kite in the air. We’ve been trying to fly a kite since our son was a toddler but for some reason or another we were left with a bunch of failed attempts. This time, I persevered and managed to get a flying shark kite up … well … after the tree incident … and the roof incident. Shortly after turn the reigns over to my son all hell broke loose and the kite took a nose dive straight at him.

Sounds like a great day. Your photos are beautiful. That kite is so cool! Glad you got it flying.
Cat,
I know they’re some rough ones, but it is days like these that make you so happy to be a mommy. It looks like everyone enjoyed their day in the sun. I’m so glad that it is here now. Am I seeing some of your husband in Emma?
Kaydee is my kind of girl. I think I would enjoy hanging out w/her.
The kite pictures are way cool. You should maybe print them and make a memory “something” for Mattie especially since you guys have been trying so long to get one in the air. It “looks” like he did all of the work. How did you get it out of the tree? Was that a sight to see?
Oh yes, Emma and Jon are little twins, inside and out.
The tree thing is actually kind of funny. We’re in a newly developed neighborhood that has nothing but small, baby trees. Well one neighbor has a tree about as tall as the house gutter (ranch style) and the darn string wrapped right around the top branch. I ended up having Jon toss the kite, the wind caught it and pulled the string loose from the tree. I think we got lucky on that one.
That looks like a just near perfect day. Rock eating aside. I love the kite images. Makes me want to go get a new one for our kids.
You should! I almost forgot how much fun kites really are.
Looks like you had a fun day yesterday! I so wish we were neighbors so the kids could play together…eat rocks together…whatever! lol
Looks like a fun kite and a great day to fly one. Glad he had fun!
I forgot all about kites. I have some I found on clearance a while back. We just have to find a good windy day. I bet my kids would love that. Maybe you have some of those good tasting rocks!
Those photos are aweeeesome! Especially the kite photos.
What a great post!
That rock garden probably isn’t too comfortable
A sandbox would be fun for the kids, but It would be soo messy! Even when we come home from the park, Colton has sand in every place imaginable.
what a great day outside they all seemed to have each doing thier own thing. My daughter (now 19) used to love cats and I can remember her chasing after each cat sneaking up and being quite just to watch it never really trying to catch it. I love the great kite very cool
Aww so sweet! My boys are every where too! Soaking up the fresh air. Love the kite
too cute flying kites are awesome…. absolutely beautiful day it seems is right they look so cool when there in the air
It looks like they are having a blast. You have such cute babies. We have to many trees in this area to fly a kite. We did a few times and they end up in the trees.
what an awesome day! They make the bad ones seem so far away dont they!
What a cool kite!
Isn’t it great that we have a mixture of those days? The whiplash days make us grateful for the calm, everybody-happy ones.
Love your blog! Come on over for some mom inspiration and encouragement.
I was thinking it sounded more like The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
LOL
I love the flying shark! How fun!! Great pics as usual.
Glad perseverance paid off and the kite made it to the sky! Looks like a wonderful way to spend the day!
Oh my son would love that kite! Looks like a lot of fun.
I have been following blogs related to remote controlled flying shark which led me to this site. So, I thought I’d leave a comment too even if the flying shark is not the same thing. Cheers for a great blog. Great kids too.
