Guinness Book of World Records – Laundry Award

After nearly a week of bloggy silence, I figured I owed a bit of an explanation. What started out as a very hormonal week for me, the kind of week where avoiding contact with anyone and everyone is the safest bet, has now ended with a monumental task.

If there were ever an award given to the mom with the tallest pile of laundry, I have a good feeling I would be in the running for it.

Spring is always the worst time of year when it comes to laundry. Thanks to our ever changing temperatures, we have to keep around the cool weather clothes but also have some warm weather ones on hand when the temperature spikes. In the next few weeks when the warmth becomes more constant I can put away all of the long sleeved shirts and heavy jeans. But until then, I’m faced with the world’s tallest laundry piles. By my estimate, I’ve got about 50 – 60 loads there. I’m just praying my old washer and dryer survives this.

Well, at least it is all organized. Imagine just having the room cluttered with it… then I’d be going crazy!

  2. Shannon says:

We are on our last load of washing from piles that were very similiar to that! I get behind soooooe easily. Now we have to finish folding. I may finish folding before the kids graduate. lol

    • Cat Davis says:

LMAO that is a job for the hubby. I put it in, transfer to the dryer and give him the folding and hanging work. My scrawny arms always ache after all that folding.

  3. Courtney says:

Oh my.. hahah.. I did three loads today just for hubby and I. We average 3 loads a week.

  4. Rebecca says:

I feel for you!!!! Good luck!

  5. That is hilarious!! Maybe you need NEW He Machines!!

  6. Wow, that is a lot of laundry. I would be so overwhelmed, that I would just pile it all the car and head to the laundry mat and get it all done at once. Not really, I hate those places. Good luck getting all that caught up.

    • Cat Davis says:

We actually tried that last fall and it went horribly wrong. The machines were so tiny and the clothes didn’t get fully clean, it was a very expensive waste of 2 hours. lol I can kill off about 9 loads a day and have this done in maybe a week.

  7. Jodi says:

I don’t envy you that job – I hate doing laundry! It’s not really the washing that I don’t like, or even the folding and putting away, my least favorite job is hanging up the clothes. If I had that many clothes to wash, I’d probably ask my husband to do it and bribe him with a really tasty meal and dessert.

  8. Shana Putnam says:

I am on my 6th load today. I totally understand! My hubby also has 2 outfits a day because of uniforms…sigh. One day it will be done lol.

  9. kristin says:

I hate putting laundry away. It’s always clean but ends up in pretty piles. :D

  10. Tiffany says:

Wow. You win hands down. That is a crazy crazy amount of laundry. I think we do about 10 a week, but I couldn’t imagine having 50-60 loads. That’s a daunting task. Maybe you need to call in reinforcements…start an assembly line? :)

  11. Firefly says:

LOL You should see our master bedroom it is full of clothing that is clean, but I’ve been so lazy to fold and put away! I can wash it I can keep it clean, but don’t make me fold it ever. In most cases it will wait in baskets in our bedroom for days, weeks and we’ll just take stuff from there LOL

  12. Laura says:

Good luck! For me, the bad part of all that would be folding it and putting it away. I HATE doing that!!

  13. Kris says:

I’d be in the running with you. If there was an award for the amount of clean clothes shoved on teh couch, unfolded, I’d be in the running for that one too. Laundry is the bane of my existence.

  14. Angela Bailey says:

OMG that pile is huge. If there’s one thing I hate, it’s doing laundry. My man will sometimes throw a load in to wash for me but I still get stuck putting them in the dryer and putting ours away. My kids are 10 and 12 now so I just put theirs in their rooms and they take care of putting their own laundry away. My 10 year old son is very good at doing this, however, my 12 year old step daughter is sort of a slob and just throws her anywhere. Oh well, as long as I don’t have to do it, lol.

  15. Cindy says:

I have 6 kids and the stomach flu just went through my house. I did 22 loads in three days. I do on average two a day. I secertly wish that one of the big companie reads my blog, and would come i my house, add on a laudry room (we literally have a closet that only fits my washer ad dryer) and would gift us the commercial machine that fit double what I have. AHHhh a girl can dream huh? But what better of a person to review a washer and dryer then a mom with 6 right LOL? Gosh isn’t it silly that my dreams for my life are an actual laundry room with a huge washer and dryer lol

    • Cat Davis says:

I’m dreaming right along with you! Right now I’d just be happy with a dryer that didn’t take 120 minutes for one normal load of clothes.

  16. Marj M. says:

Glad you made your way through the laundry. Now, I’m definately with you on the folding…..maybe as you say……Christmas.
Your little one looks like she loves the camera. How cute.

  17. Stefani says:

I have been recently overwhelmed with laundry too!

The worst part is when you wash clothes and they end up on the floor again ready to be washed without being worn.

  18. traci s says:

i feel for you, i had taken in my 3 nieces kids , plus my daughter was back home for a spell, and then there was our son, and us so ya laundry can pile up fast!! if i didnt do 2-3 loads a day i would end up with a entire day spent to laundry!!

  19. Sinclair says:

At least you have a laundry room in which to work. Imagine if you had to pile those in the garage, which is where my laundry machines were when I was a child!

  20. janel c says:

Ah! I love this!! My laundry always piles up way too high also!!

  21. Xmasdolly says:

I must say back in the day when I had my four little Indians running around I would’ve gave you a run for your money, but girlfriend you’ve definitely got a job ahead of you, and sorting is only the very beginning. WHEW! You’re definitely going to deserve a Latte after that one!

  22. angie says:

girl you deserve the award but I may come in close second as being gone the weekend has set me back quite a bit as well

  23. Oh my goodness, and I was just thinking about writing a post on how much I hate doing laundry! lol I can imagine that with three kids it is … a lot. Oh dear.

  24. And yes, mine ends up in piles more often than in drawers. lol

  25. Stefanie says:

Mine’s piling up as I type this. I feel your pain. Laundry sucks!!!!!
