Honeydew, Protein, and 33 Weeks

Those three words pretty much summarize my day.

Honeydew:
According to the Bump, my little baby Emma is now roughly the size of a honeydew. Yep, I’ll believe that. But they seem to have left off the 4 bananas and mango trying to poke through my abdomen, ribs, and kidneys. It seems like everyday this little chicky decides to try and put a foot through my skin. FYI: if you plan on participating the Bloggy Baby Shower when it comes time to guessing the baby’s birth weight, I can guarantee this little bugger is not going to be less than 8lbs. Just a hint.

Protein and 33 Weeks:
I went in for yet another checkup with my OB/GYN today. It didn’t exactly go as uneventful as usual though. You know how you pee in the cup and they stick a little test strip in it to measure for the amount of protein in your urine? Well, usually the nurse just dips, glances, and moves on. Today she dips, glances, whips her head back and looks again. Rut roh. She then goes back to her chart, fills out some information and goes to check on the test strip AGAIN. Crap!

My doctor comes in a proceeds as usual. Little Emma is doing great, heartbeat fluttering away at 147 bmp, my belly measuring a week ahead, and then she says, “I want you back in two weeks” Sigh. I know these visits are to cover her ass in case something is missed and to make sure me and baby are okay, but come on. Do you know how hard it is to drag a toddler and 7 year old into the office with you while you’re waddling no faster than a duck with one good leg? She then goes on to tell me that there is more than trace amounts of protein in my urine and that while my blood pressure is good, she wants me to watch for swelling and headaches, signs of preeclampsia. My family history doesn’t go so well in this department. Not only did my sister, but my mother both experienced preeclampsia. I’ve been lucky so far and hopefully will this time as well.

So that pretty much sums up my day.

What was the nurse looking at all confused? Those appts must be tough. The one day I took the kids with me to the obgyn I ended up at the ER with THREE kids. (My sister came to help… and left with her daughter and I had her son and my boys…LMAO. As I was getting Xrayed…nightmare)

I know it is tough to toddle around with a toddler~~I tell my hubby I feel like a stuffed penguin! I am so ready to be done. I hope everything is fine with you, and Yes~ be careful and watch yourself! Less than 2 months to go!

Thanks for your advice, and I have heard that sex can help (even though it doesn’t sound fun at all these days)~ I know you understand. :)
