Just Call Me Boots

It’s funny how kids just know things about you that you never realized yourself. They see the dynamics of your family in a way that adults are just oblivious to. You see, my two year old daughter, Kaydence, has an obsession with Dora the Explorer (and Diego). What toddler doesn’t these day? No complaints from me, I think she’s a fabulous role model for young children. Actually, I take that back, the one complaint I have is that my daughter now knows more Spanish than I do!

Before I go any further though, I’ll let Kaydee start…

I’m really amazed, she picked a character for every family member in our house and oddly, they all seem to fit.

Dora – of course this would have to be Kaydee, she’s the star in this house.
Boots – I love that she picked me to be her little sidekick monkey. We are like peas in a pod and go nowhere without each other.
Swiper – hubby is still chuckling over this one but it’s true, he’s known to be a swiper, especially if cookies are involved
Diego – cousin, brother, I totally see the correlation
Map – Shelbi, our dog, got the trusty role of showing Kaydee where to go.
Backpack – I find it comical that Emma ended up as the back pack. I have a feeling she sees a future of her little sister just one step behind her wherever she goes.

I only hope that in the future, when she’s hating my guts for throwing her boyfiends out the door, she remembers our days as best buds, Dora and Boots.

  3. Firefly says:

    Aww she is adorable :D
My kiddo loves Dora and Diego…I’m telling you at almost 5 she goes between 3 languages with no problems LOL

    • Cat says:

Wow, 3 languages? That’s really amazing. I’m lucky if I can remember anything from the 3 yrs of French I took in high school.

  4. That’s really, really cute!

  5. Jen says:

Smart little girl :-) . And adorable, too!

  6. Evan says:

Me and my daughters play Blue’s Clues specially when we lose the remote control to the dog. LOL. Well, as the dad, I have to live up to the possible “disliking” of my daughters to me when I kick their future boyfriends’ asses out of our door. Nice post. Kudos!

  7. Brings back Memories my daughter was the same way with DOra. Dora was a favorite for her. She was bilingual to the extent that if you spoke to her in english you get ignored. Lol. Standing on a chair and telling her to sit down wasn’t enough you had to tell her in Spanish then she’d sit Immediately!

  11. Kayla says:

Aw, that’s so cute!! It’s good to see that these kid shows are actually teaching kids things instead of the mindless garbage that’s on! Sometimes, I just wish adults could have shows like these. Lol

  12. Execumama says:

See how brilliant children are?! I love this! It’s wonderful how their little personalities bloom and we get to see what’s really going on in their beautiful li’l heads! She’s smart and cute, what a combo!

So adorable. My 2 year old does the same thing with her favourite TV shows, including Dora.

  15. Jessica says:

Too cute!!! We are a Dora family here as well although my little girl hasn’t made such correlations to the show and our family but I think Daddy would be swiper in our house as well.

  16. My 3 yr old son is also obsessed with Dora and friends. He even picked a Dora cake for his birthday!

  17. Kristen says:

That’s cute! It’s funny indeed…my kids tell me things sometimes that I look at them and say “How on earth did you know that?”….to which they answer “Because I’m smart mommy”…lol. Kids are wonderful!

  18. Jamie says:

    That is super cute!
