Today Lori Falcon, fabulous friend, blogger and author of My Wooden Spoon shared a new initiative called 1,000 Cooks for the Cure. Together KitchenAid and Susan G. Komen for the Cure hope to bring together 1,000 cooks to host charitable parties during the weekend of July 16th through 18th to raise donations to help fight and find a cure for Breast Cancer.
Why do I care? I don’t have breast cancer. I don’t even know anyone that does have or has ever had breast cancer. But something in my heart aches for the women that are fighting breast cancer and the women of the future that will. Someday, it could even be me, my mother, my sister or even more gut wrenching … my own daughters. I know in my heart that I need to help in any small way I can. And you can too!
Two Easy Ways to Help Fight Breast Cancer
Host a 1,000 Cooks for the Cure Party – Gather your friends and family to create a weekend of food, fun and most importantly … fundraising. Visit the 1,000 Cooks for the Cure website where you can register your party, download donation forms, a party guide and sample recipes for your party. When you submit $50 in donations from your party, KitchenAid will send you a Pass the Plate serving dish to help you continue in your breast cancer fighting efforts. Every time you “pass the plate” to a friend and they register it on the website, KitchenAid will make a $5 donation to the cause.
Purchase Cook for the Cure Products – KitchenAid products have been apart of my kitchen line up for years, so I can without a doubt attest to their quality. To aid in efforts to fight breast cancer each pink KitchenAid product purchased and registered will generate a donation of up to $50 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. If you’re hosting a party, these would make a great addition to begin discussion on ways to help. In fact, I just ordered 3 pink products (hand mixer, mixing bowls, measuring cups) for my party! To see the full collection, shop Cook for the Cure products online.
We just registered as Party 109 and planning has already begun for “Cat’s Cupcakes for the Cure” party weekend where I’ll be whipping up some beautiful pink strawberry cupcakes where we hope to raise $50 or more for Susan G Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest breast cancer organization dedicated to saving lives, empowering people, ensuring quality care for all and energizing science to find the cures for Breast Cancer.
Big thanks to Lori for sharing the 1,000 Cooks for the Cure information. Be sure to check out her KitchenAid giveaway with more information on the event!
