ICEE logoICEE® Instant! Slushy Maker

Features

  • Makes delicious ICEE® Slushies in under 5 minutes!
  • Sturdy cup shaker with aluminum canister
  • Three ICEE® slushy flavoring mix included ( watermelon, cherry and orange)
  • Easy to clean
  • Food ingredients made in the USA
  • Easy to follow instructions included

Thinking back to the yummy ICEE’s I had as a child, the ICCEE Instant Slushy Maker brings the fun of making one right in your home. The process is simple enough for even my 8 year old son to do with a little supervision. By mixing ice, water and salt into the lower chamber of the ICEE maker, it creates a super cooling effect that freezes the slushie flavor and water in the top chamber.

After 4 minutes of continuous shaking, we discovered a very sweet treat. While it didn’t quite have the consistency of an ICEE, it did however make a very smooth sorbet like texture that tasted as good as it smelled.

Retailing at $10.99 for the ICEE starter kit and $5.99 for the refills, I would put this in the good buy category. Available at Toys R Us, K-Mart and other select retailers.

Chuck E. Cheese’s® Pizza Maker

pizza makerFeatures

  • Makes delicious pizzas in mom’s conventional microwave!
  • Cooks in one minute!
  • Conveniently designed storage station and accessories
  • Includes dough mixings, sauce and cheese mixings
  • Makes 4 cheese pizzas!
  • Food ingredients made in the USA
  • Easy to follow instructions included

From all outward appearances, this looks like a fun cooking project, especially since most kids love their pizza like nothing else. The process is semi easy, basic ingredients and mixing, quick microwave time and nice visual instructions.

The downfall of this product is the ingredients themselves as you’ll soon see.

In step one, you and your child will measure and mix dry dough ingredients with water, as we did here. Then you kneed the dough onto the included microwave tray which can be quite the sticky process without perfect measurements.

Next, we cooked the dough which resulted in more of a lumpy biscuit than pizza dough. Following the instructions, a mixture of ketchup (not provided in the kit) and the included dry sauce and dry cheese ingredients was added to the top, then microwaved for a quick 12 seconds.

The result…

To be perfectly honest, it tastes as bad as it looks. The dough is chunky and flavorless, topped off by a strange flavor of parmesan cheese sauce that just doesn’t quite resemble any pizza flavor we’ve ever experienced. While my son had fun making the pizza and the time we spent together, it just wasn’t edible by anyone.

Retailing at $16.99 for the Chuck E Cheese Pizza Maker starter kit and $6.99 for refills, this is one I would say your money is best spent on a delivery pizza.

I gotta admit that pizza does look nasty! I think the girls would love the Slushy Maker tho so I might just pick this up! Thanks for the review!

  2. Annie says:

I loved your review! Thank you for being honest with it. I think if I get the pizza maker for my daughter I will make my own pizza and just not use their dough kit!

  3. Stefanie says:

Well…the slushy maker looks good! ???

  4. Erin says:

The “sorbet” looks good. The pizza looks scary. I am not a big fan of toys that make food though. I would rather have my kids help me in the real kitchen – no matter what I have to supervise so might as well ensure things come out better using higher quality ingredients and proper equipment.

  5. Courtney says:

The pizza maker doesn’t seem to catch my eye, but the Icee looks fun! :)

  6. trisha says:

Kudos on TRYING that at all cat. LOL!!

  7. tara says:

That slushy does look good. The price seems reasonable too.
The pizza on the other hand….just the fact that it’s made with ketchup for the sauce and whatever kind of cheese that is would deter me from trying it. Sounds like you gave it a fair chance though!

  8. Allison says:

We did the ICEE maker review as an episode of our cooking show and it was just bad, we did use melted popsicles and it came out really well. We haven’t had time to review the pizza maker yet and after seeing your review I’m worried that we may have the same result. I do think that this was a great review!

  9. LOL, I don’t like anything about Chuck E. Cheese and this just back it up. Our closest one we went to once it was so dirty I was worried my son would find a needle or something in the ball pit. It was gross. We turned around and left.

If your kid wants to bake just get the Easy Bake Oven LOL

    The slushy looks fun though!

  10. Brandy says:

    oh that slushy looks yummy!

  11. Lorri Jeanne says:

I reviewed both of these also and didn’t care for either one much. Not worth the price in my opinion.

  12. Shana says:

Wow that pizza thing looks, well gross lol. What a bummer, I love Chuck E Cheese. But that slushee thing looks good and reasonably priced too.

  13. Charity L. says:

Wow! I just won a double set of these for my little sisters. Guess I’ll have to check it out first:)

  14. Very good review! Thank you for your honesty!

  15. Firefly says:

Oh that pizza looks well awful, but the slushy/sorbet thing looks yummy or at least color does!

  16. Patti Hess says:

I don’t think the Pizza looks to great but the slurpee wow that looks good ..i would like to try one of those

  17. Karen R says:

Thanks for the review. I will not waste my money on the pizza kit. We’ll contine to make English Muffin pizzas.

  18. Gia says:

They also have the coldstone creamery ice cream maker. I just got it today because it was on sale. The ice cream tasted horrible. It makes about 1 spoonful of ice cream. It comes with 3 packages. 1 vanilla 1 chocolate and 1 strawberry. We tried the strawberry and the vanilla. It was nasty. It had a very weird lumpy texture from the powder, and it tasted like syrup. I would never recommend this.

  19. I think the “Iccee” does look pretty good. But I think we all know that these “Do It at Home” items never really compare to the real thing. While they are fun to do for a while, they start to get old quick. Plus who has the money to buy refills all the time. Not me. : )

  20. Tiffany says:

The icee maker looks like fun. That pizza maker seems terrible though. It almost looks like throw up? Thanks for the very honest review.

  21. Seidah says:

The pizza maker was the pits so we tried to move on to the slushy maker only to discover the instructions must have gotten tossed with other Christmas paper trash! Help if you have them…

  22. Ronique says:

Dont buy the Pizza Maker. My two girls are sick now b/c of this trash toy. The dough ends up looking like a lumpy biscuit, the sauce and cheese are disgusting. Now they are both vomiting like crazy b/c of the poor quality of the food. obviously no one tested this stuff before they put it on the shelf unless a dog was the subject.

  23. angie says:

I had the same results! It was really gross! The cheese looks like the powdered cheese in macaroni and cheese. And the sauce is powder too. My daughter and I were laughing so hard because i was just so gross!

  24. Suzie Pancino says:

    Hi

Can anyone please give me the instructions to the Slushie Maker as I have misplaced mine?

    Cheers Suzie

  25. mad as hell says:

Think Wow or Think Tank Toys which ever slippery name they are using this month?
They suck as producers, they suck as distributors, they are dishonest and incompetent.

  26. Brenda Gehrke says:

I did not get the ingrients on how to make the pizzas and mixes
