My big girl just had her one year check-up along with a few shots (poor baby). I actually really enjoy taking Kaydence to her pediatrician because she absolutely loves her doctor and nurses. They are always so cheerful and happy with her and us. After doing the initial measurements I was so surprised and delighted to hear that my baby jumped from the 5th percentile in height, weight, and head circumference to the 50th percentile! She didn’t triple her birth weight which they suggest as the healthiest gain by one year but she wasn’t far from it. After being born at 8lbs 13ozs, she’s now a chunky 21lbs even and has grown 8 inches from birth to 29 1/2 inches long.
Movin’ on up!

On the not so bright side, we had a chance to talk about her possibility of having asthma like big brother, and dad. Although our son has grown out of it, my husband never did. This is about the same time our son started exhibiting signs of asthma, which caused us to watch her closely the past few months. After discussing her problems with wheezing and coughing after playing and running the pediatrician prescribed her a rescue inhaler for exercise induced asthma. While it stinks, there’s a good probability she’ll grow out of it as well.

Congrats on chunking her up! My daughter has also been at the bottom of the weight percentile chart her whole life. She was making progress, but at 15 months she’d fallen behind and was lower than 5 percent. We now bribe her with fruits and veggies to get her to eat meat and cheese!
Congrats on chunking her up! I can relate to that mommy victory. My daughter has been at the bottom of the weight percentile chart her whole life. She was steadily increasing through her first year, but at 15 months she dropped below the 5th percentile. We’re now bribing her with fruits and veggies to get her to eat more meat and cheese. The phrase “healthy diet” has taken on a much broader meaning to me now.
