I’m perfectly okay with admitting I don’t have the handiest of husband’s. I’m the fixer upper of the house not because I’m great at it but because I’m a perfectionist. If I want something done “right”, I have to do it myself. Truth be told, this man of mine is lucky to hammer a nail in straight. So when I demanded that he fix our bedroom closet doors he said, “it’s not a problem, I’ll do it”
Shudder.
My husband? Fix the closet doors? This will be interesting….and it was. Five minutes into his DIY fixer upper I heard a crash and found this…
So what’s the first thing any good blogger does? Grab the camera. In between giggles and snapshots he’s being smooshed under the closet door begging for me to help him out. Being the good wife I am, I finished taking my photos, held back the last bit of laughter and got the door off of him.
Seeing how little progress was being made I ended up stepping in to help and with a team effort, we now have doors on our closet again. It only took 5 months. LOL The unfortunate part…they don’t exactly look the way they did when we first bought the house. There’s a few gaps here and there, but hey, whatever, the work and that’s all that matters.

LMAO…sorry but that was FUNNY
He didn’t seem to think so. LOL
That is too funny. I would not have been able to hold the laugh in.
Seriously those types of doors never go on the second time…the same way they went on the first time. I have had a set of those doors on my closet for 10 years…and for the last 8 1/2 they have been askew….lol
Uh yeah, especially since Mr. DIY didn’t even buy the same tracking, it was a nightmare.
too funny, I have a retired Carpenter and I still can’t get him started on my honey do list. can you give me some tips?.. do I need to bribe him?
I am so sorry but I LOL when I saw those pictures and read your post. It was like a “Tim Taylor” moment (ya know, Home Improvement) – LOL!
My husband makes Tim Taylor look like Bob Villa.
I would not been able to hold back from laughing.
My dh is the same way!
can u come put some on mine?LOL
I have a no so diy kind of husband myself too. It’s weird my Dad growing up could fix or do anything that needed done around the house, but not my hubby. I tend to do most of the fixing myself.
You know, my dad is exactly the same way. I just assumed all men were until I met my husband.
I love that you grab the camera in that moment. LOL – that first picture is great.
I’m glad I’m not the only one with an ‘unhandy’ hubby
Too funny Cat!!
My husband is the same way. I’m the one that ends up fixing everything. When we redid our bathroom I was the one that was sanding the walls, doing the new grout in the shower, I was the one that hung the chair rail in the living room and bedroom…he just stood by and watched. Oh and the time I asked him to fix the toilet? Yep, still broken! I should have married Bob Villa! lmao
That is so strange!! My hubby was fixing Colton’s closet doors today because they always come off. He isn’t a good handyman either, but I was so surprised he actually fixed them!
That’s a funny coincidence…but I’m guessing he didn’t take hours to do it though right? lol
LMBO! I am so glad to find out I am not the only one without a handy husband! Mine is the same way.
Cat,
What is the world coming too when a woman’s (specific to bloggers) first instinct is to grab her camera? Her child could be crying and need comfort, her husband could be trapped under a closet door, breathing his last breath and yet, she’s looking for a camera. I too feel this tug every single time anything unusual happens around me.
I’m glad you got the doors up. I’m happy and thankful to say that I DO have a very handy (it’s his profession) husband around the house. It makes life so much easier when something needs to get fixed right then. I also won’t talk about the money we save for labor, plus he lets me pay him in special tender. I even enjoy strolling through the Home Depot and Lowes w/him.
You are a very lucky woman my friend. Fortunately, what he lacks in handiness he makes up in laughter.
I have been admonished more than once for wishing to grab the camera (or actually running to get it) and snap the shot before jumping into action. Of course, this urge does not extend to times when someone is in danger or is injured. Those times, I forget the camera and do what is needed. I am glad I am not the only one who is attached in this way to my camera and capturing the moment!
Oh he was fine, he weighs more than the door does. Moments like these are why I always keep a pocket cam handy.
Haha-That’s funny
Although I totally agree with you on the perfectionist thing. I’m the SAME way.
Cat,
That is hysterical!
Being married to a not so handy manny myself I can relate!
teamwork helps keep the family together me and hubby have worked together on many different things in the 22+ years we have been together
Teamwork for us leads to disaster…seriously, every time we work on a project together someone gets frustrated or hurt. I’ve accidentally dropped a hammer on his foot a few times.
OMG you really have to warn a girl when you write stuff like this LOL
That is hysterical. SO glad that my house is not the only place that things like that happen in
Omigosh, you just made me laugh.out.loud here. My dad is also not DIY savvy (bless his heart) and so my mom had to step in to help…
LOL Aww Man Sounds like what goes on in this HOUSE! LOL @ how he is looking at you! Wife’s always make it better! I am the type that can’t stop laughing and I know hubby thinking in his head how he wish i would shut up LOL.
Got to get started with the Xmas shopping.
Just waiting on a good deal for Xmas shopping. Sams Club?
Do any of you go to any sales on Black Fridays after thanksgiving?
That is HILARIOUS! lol I needed that laugh
OMG hah I needed a good laugh. I am glad he is okay
This post made me really LOL!
Reminds me of myself and DH!
LOL
yeah… that was funny LOL
