Did you know that when your child is playing with a toy that requires lifting lids and exploring movable parts your child is also building the muscles he or she will need to grip a pencil when it’s time for school? This can be especially important for children learning hand writing skills in the near future. This is just one idea behind the Playskool Blocksters and Blockimals toy line. Watch this short video below from Playskool to learn how toys can be not only fun, but educational.
Introducing the Playskool Blocksters Block Spot
Babies will giggle with glee as they stack and explore these adorable block toys! Each whimsical block is home to a friendly face and a busy activity like squeaking or rattling. Little ones love all the fun and parents love how these toys encourage hands-on play and help develop fine motor skills. When you’re done, all the blocks pack up into the handy travel case, which can also be used as a shape sorter! Ages 12 months and up.
Our Blocksters Experience
While the Blocksters are recommended for ages 12 months and up, I can tell you my 9 month and 2 1/2 year old children absolutely loved them. The bright colors, large shapes and animal faces made for some fun playtime in the afternoon that are not only entertaining but educational. While our youngest daughter is busy discovering the sounds and different shapes, our 2 year old daughter plays with the Blocksters right by her side learning how each shape fits into the case. Not only that, each Blockster offers different activities to encourage fine motor development with our 9 month old daughter.
What we Love
As a mom, I love that Blocksters come in a handy travel case that we can easily pack the blocks into and take along with us in the car or over to grandma’s house.
The bright colors with matching animals make them fun and attention grabbing for the kids.
What could use Improvement
The over-sized blocks do make them difficult to handle one handed for the smaller hands of an infant but the large size is the perfect prevention against a choking hazard.

The thing I am most impressed with is the size of the blocks! In the top photo of the product they looked tiny. But even when your older daughter has a block in her hand they looked huge! Thats awesome! I am adding these to the wishlist of things I want for my baby for christmas!
That’s cute how the designs peek through the holes! The kiddos look pretty engaged in them too:)
I have been looking for the right block set for my son. He turns one in a few days and I think these are perfect!
My granddaughter liked similar toys at that age. I like that they’re larger.
My grandson is really great with his motor skills so I’ll be looking into these!
