Growing up, Wilton was a brand that could always been found lurking in my mother’s kitchen cabinets. Around every known holiday you would find us in the kitchen together baking cakes and cookies. The best part, I was the “Chief Decorator”.
Now that I’m all grown up with children of my own, I still enjoy using the same products that I once did as a child and have every bit as much fun with it. To celebrate our daughter’s first birthday, Wilton provided us with an assortment of birthday themed products that are not only new, but fun for decorating any type of birthday.
UltraGold Bakeware from Wilton
UltraGold is a new line of bakeware that takes the art of baking to a higher level and is the culmination of Wilton’s 80 years of baking and dessert decorating experience. Every Wilton UltraGold pan was designed with features that provide the perfect baking results decorators demand:
- Premium Aluminum
- Even Heating – No Warping
- Durable Anodized Surface
- Oversized Handles
My absolute favorite part of the new Wilton products is the Ultragold Bakeware. The large handles make them so much easier to remove from the oven, especially when you find yourself with a missing oven mitt and need to improvise using the nearest hand towel.
The aluminum pans also cool quite quickly and allowed me to wipe the excess flour off and use again to bake the extra cake layers.
Wilton Decorations
Even more fun than baking the cake was actually decorating the Princess Castle Cake. We used a mix of the Wilton Lavender and Pink sugar sprinkles to coat the cone towers. As you can see, the colors are so bright and vibrant really making them fun to use for kid themed baking projects.
To keep the princess theme going, we used pink Sparkle Gel to create windows and doors on the cake. This is a really fun gel because it’s different and full of little shimmering sparkles. The Wilton Sparkle Gel comes in 9 colors that are really perfect for any occasion.
Rather than plopping down just any regular cupcake and liner, Wilton makes a variety of wraps to decorate cupcakes and make them special for themed parties. We used the Princess Cupcake Wrap n Pix for Emma’s special cupcake. The pink crown wrap with little glass slipper pix made it that much more special and tied in nicely with the rest of the princess themed decor.
Overall, we had such a great time decorating Emma’s cake with all of the Wilton goodies. They really do seem to have something for every occasion, especially when it comes to themed birthdays.

I thought the outer space cupcakes would be a great way to complete a unit on Space with my kids.
I was a little disappointed because all of their themes seem really young and my kids are getting older. I think my 13 year old would die if I gave him an animal themed birthday cake. It would be nice if they did some for thems that also encompassed the older age groups.

The Star Billing Cake is the cutest thing I’ve seen– perfect for my son’s third birthday party! Love the primary colors in the fondant stars which would go with any theme!

My little girl turns 3 on March 30. We have fallen into some hard times and her third birthday is a big deal to me…she’s no longer a baby! I would have neve thought even a year ago I would be worring about how to throw her a party or raising her alone.
