Four Household Dangers You Need to Watch Out For

October 9, 2017 by admin

Young children and pets seem to have a knack for finding and exploiting all the dangers you never noticed before in your household. As soon as it might hurt them, they zero in on it and terrify you when they start playing with whatever hazard it is. That is why everyone should look out for and rectify these five household dangers before you bring in young anything, whether it is a child, a puppy, kitten, or even a pet rodent that you intend to let run around:

  1. Mold

Mold isn’t dangerous on its own, per se, but they can be dangerous and can trigger asthma attacks and other health concerns. Mold in general should be taken seriously as well, as it indicates a leak somewhere in your home. Over time this mold will turn to rot, so it is important to get it checked out immediately.

  1. Fire Hazards

There are many fire hazards in the home. Ensure that all your appliances are in working order without any malfunctions or reasons for concern and that you don’t have any exposed wiring where an errant kid or pet can play with them. A young child doesn’t have to play with a fire hazard for it to not become a safety issue. If you have an old, trying stove then replace it immediately for a newer and safer model. You should also ensure that your fire alarms and your carbon monoxide alarms are fully operational.

  1. Insect Infestation

Insects are, in many ways, worse than rodents. Rodents typically stay inside their nest during the day and come out only when people are away or sleeping. Insects, on the other hand, come and go as they please. The worst ones are bed bugs or other flesh-eating insects like lice or ticks. These are the ones you really need to be wary of, as they can cause severe allergic reactions and anxiety that makes it difficult to sleep at night. When a pest has invaded your home, you need to contact Reynolds Pest Management Pest Control to ensure the problem is entirely eradicated. If a substandard job is done, then the pests can and will come back.

  1. Rodent Infestation

Rodents carry diseases and can infest and create nests inside your home. If they don’t carry diseases, then there are other dangers as well. Rodents will eat through your food, your wiring, and other areas of your home. Once their urine dries it is very difficult to see, meaning your counters could be covered in waste. The key to getting rid of a rodent infestation is to watch out for the signs and to take the necessary steps as soon as you see chewed food or wiring, feces, or the rodent itself.

There are many household hazards in the home. The steps and measures that you take depend on your home and the age of the young child or pet that you are bringing into your home. Watch out for mold or other structural issues, fire hazards, and signs of pests and you’re off to a good start.

Keys To Teaching Your Children Responsibility

October 9, 2017 by admin

Responsibility is one of those words that every parent knows all too well. As a mother or father, you have a lot of obligations and tasks to attend to each day. You realize that your children are growing up and also need to learn more about taking charge.

While you want to help them succeed, you know it’s not healthy to do it all for them. There comes a time when they must learn for themselves how to survive in a chaotic world. There’s no magic formula, so it’s up to you to educate yourself on best practices. See keys to teaching your children responsibility.

Start Young

Don’t be afraid to start teaching your children responsibility at a young age. Ask them to make their bed, pick up their toys and soon they’ll be making lunch for themselves. Begin helping them to stand on their own two feet from a very young age. They’ll thank you for it later in life when they can function on their own and know what to do to take care of themselves. Springing this idea on your child when they’re in high school will be difficult, and you’ll regret not guiding them earlier on.

Delegate Tasks

Have your children help you with certain duties, but then start delegating tasks as they age. Assign them chores and have them help out with the dog. For example, have your children help you apply Pet Lock best flea control for dogs and explain why it’s so important for their health. Show them where the food is and how much to feed the pet each day. Let them own specific chores around the house that make them feel good about themselves and happy to have helped you out.

Praise them

Remember to continue to praise your children and tell them what a great job they’re doing. They won’t know it unless you verbally express it to them. Pat them on the back when you see your kids following through on a task and completing chores you didn’t even ask them to do. Reward them by letting them help you with bigger and more adult responsibilities that they’ll feel special collaborating with you on. Pay attention to what they’re doing around the house and have a conversation with them about how proud you are, instead of assigning your children tasks and brushing them off.

Practice Patience

Teaching your kids responsibility is a process. It’s not going to happen overnight and won’t necessarily catch on right away. Be patient with your children and let them make mistakes. Be there to model good behavior and invite them to try again without judgment. Teach and guide them to success by keeping calm and showing them what they’ve done wrong. You want your kids to come to you with questions, instead of hiding mishaps from you.

Conclusion

Teaching your children responsibility isn’t an easy task. Do your best and give you and your kids a break when it doesn’t go as planned. These are keys to teaching your children responsibility.

As Seen on TV: Have Family Fun Searching-Out Iconic Images in NYC

October 5, 2017 by admin

Source

New York City needs no introduction. It’s one of the most star-studded places on the planet. It’s the reason countless television series and movies are shot there. A tourist is sure to come upon places that are popular with locals but recognizable to many around the world. Here’s a rundown of popular places from movies and TV you’ll want to seek out in NYC.

Katz’s Delicatessen

Head to Houston Street and walk in Katz’s deli. You don’t have to ask many people to hear about the pastrami. It’s famous. But even more famous is the table where characters Harry and Sally met from When Harry Met Sally.

Joe’s Pizza

What family won’t make time for pizza? Actually, you’ll find a number of Joe’s Pizza shops around the city, yet one, in particular, served as Peter Parker’s aka Spider Man’s place of early employment. In the film, Peter Parker briefly works as a pizza delivery boy for the Carmine Street pizzeria.

Buddakan

Buddakan is one swanky place to have a meal. Fitted with chandeliers and world-class kitchen crew, it’s a treat for the eyes as well as the mouth. You may notice the glamorous interior from Sex and the City. It was the spot where Carrie and Mr. Big have their rehearsal dinner.

Bubby’s Pie Company

Many young people dream of working within NYC’s fashion district. The book made into a film, The Devil Wears Prada, features a doe-eyed young woman who wants to be a successful writer but settles to be a fashion giant’s assistant. Bubby’s is a local hangout and a place for the family to grab some snacks. You’ll probably want to order some pie.

Smith and Wollensky’s

In the mood for a steak? Walk out of your Marriott Fairfield Inn and take a cab to Smith and Wollensky’s. Another book made into a film, American Psycho, is a satire about the excess of 80s life. In the film, Patrick Bateman ironically orders his steak without hash browns. The establishment is popular with stuffy investment bankers as well as locals with a hunger for juicy steaks.

Cafe Lalo

The owners and staff at the cafe boast that theirs is the most famous in the city. Of course, that is up for debate yet you can’t deny the cafe hosted a scene in You’ve Got Mail, one of the famous romantic comedy movies from the 90s. Actually, the cafe is where Tom Hanks goes to meet Meg Ryan’s character for the first time.

Pershing Square

In the movie, Friends with Benefits, two friends decide to take things to the next level and kick things off at Central Cafe, which is Pershing Square renamed for the movie. The cafe is right across from Grand Central Station.

Russian Tea Room

A major music star, Madonna, worked at the city spot before making it big. It also stars in the movie, Tootsie, where a fading actor assumes the identity of a woman to salvage his career. If you’re more of a television viewer, you may recognize the Tea Room from Gossip Girl.

Or you might like to spice things up with a bed runner that brings out even more contrast in the room.

Curtains

When you close your curtains do you feel like closing your eyes too.
