How To Choose Jewelry for Young Children

March 2, 2021 by admin

Kids are naturally attracted to shiny and pretty things. Parents who love to dress-up their kids in fashionable clothing sometimes wonder if jewelry is also appropriate for little ones. Although some pieces are better left for the grown-ups, there are accessories that are also appropriate for children. Of course, it depends on the child’s age or the specific occasion for wearing it.

Children’s jewelry worn on special occasions

If there’s one reason to buy jewelry for children, it’s when there’s a special occasion. Every event is unique, and your child needs to dress appropriately as well. And like clothing, there are many accessories to choose from. So how do you choose a piece of jewelry fit for the occasion?

For religious events like christenings and bar mitzvahs, you need to consider the relevance of the observance. Tradition also plays an important role in choosing a piece. A safe option would be a rose gold name necklace, a birthstone bracelet, or anything that complements your belief.

Birthdays are a more fun occasion because you can choose something more personal or unique. There are a lot of perfect options to choose from. For example, a gold locket with a family picture inside would be quite meaningful. Charm bracelets are also great because the child can collect charms while growing up. For boys, a good option would be a simple gold chain or a watch. Boys should feel comfortable wearing jewelry at a young age so that they’ll be more at ease with it as they grow up.

If you’re thinking of giving jewelry as a gift for special milestones such as graduations, the options are also endless. Most parents give pieces with special meaning such as monogram rings, engraved bracelets, and watches.

Most appropriate jewelry for children

Here is another list of options if you’re considering buying a piece of jewelry for your child for the first time.

Stud earring. Getting their ears pierced is considered a right of passage. A simple stud works well as your child gets accustomed to wearing jewelry. Later on, you can buy birthstone earrings or experiment with dangling pieces when the child is older.

A statement necklace. A locket or a name necklace is always a good choice for a child. A simple chain design is great for everyday use as well.

Friendship bracelet with charms. Friendship bracelets aren’t technically jewelry, but a type of accessory your child can make or personalize. There are kits available online with a variety of options such as beads and semi-precious stones. Giving this as a gift will encourage creativity and self-expression.

Watch. A watch is a suitable choice for an older child. It gives a sense of responsibility and trust. You can choose from different types of bands and styles that will suit your child.

Don’t hesitate to allow your children to wear jewelry. There are many child-appropriate pieces to choose from. Also, accessories are an extension of one’s style and personality. And at a young age, you can develop your child’s confidence by letting them accessorize their outfits.

The Staple Pieces That Should Be in Every Moms Wardrobe

August 26, 2020 by admin

Whether you’re a new mom or have been a mom for thirty years, you know that your kids often take priority. You’re likely more concerned with your child’s wardrobe than your own, and being so busy means not much time for shopping for yourself. You’re always on the go and need a wardrobe that supports your lifestyle. That said, you also deserve to have some fun with your clothing. It needs to be easy for you to throw on and go, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous.

By stocking your wardrobe with these four pieces, you won’t have to fuss about what to wear, and you’ll always be comfortable and stylish.

1. Supportive bra

If you’re going to be running around all day, you need undergarments to support the girls. Invest in a few good quality bras that fit correctly to ensure they are comfortable and functional. Wearing the wrong size bra can do more harm than good, but a bra that fits can help keep your girls looking perky and reduce back pain. Get something with a little bit of lace to make you feel extra pretty. Even though no one can see it, you will know, and that’s all that matters.

2. Flattering jeans

Every woman, whether they are a mom or not, needs a well-fitting pair of jeans. They are the most versatile piece of clothing that you can dress up or down without giving it too much thought. You can wear them to run errands, go for brunch with the girls, or out for dinner with your husband. Since you’ll be wearing them so often, it’s worth investing in a high-quality pair from a reputable retailer like Old Navy. You want them to be durable and withstand all the wear and tear they will inevitably get. You can help save on the costs by using an Old Navy coupon when you make your purchase.

3. Cute flats

A pair of cute flats are essential for a mom’s wardrobe. You don’t always want to wear running shoes since they won’t go with dresses, skirts, trousers, or other cute outfits. Flats are a happy medium because you can get some that are stylish but still comfortable. You need something that you can walk around in all day without getting blisters, or pain in your feet, legs, or back. There are supportive options of just about every style and color you can think of to choose from, and you can wear them with anything in your wardrobe.

4. A layering cardigan

A cardigan is a staple wardrobe piece as it’s quick to throw on and pulls any look together. A neutral color like black or beige will make it extremely versatile, although you can let your personality shine with fun patterns as well. You can layer it over tank tops, t-shirts, dresses or jumpsuits, allowing your other wardrobe pieces to transition into the colder seasons. Cardigans are lightweight and can easily fit into your baby bag, meaning that you can throw it on whenever it gets a bit cool instead of taking bulky jackets or sweaters everywhere.

Boys’ pyjamas sizes explained

August 2, 2020 by admin

The how-to guide for picking the right size for boys’ pyjamas. What you should look out for when purchasing your boy’s nighttime clothing. Here are some pointers to help you will tick all the boxes, from the eczema-free item to a pyjama drawer full of various styles for your little one to try out.

Long before your little cub throws his first pyjama party, he’ll have set ideas on what to wear to bed. Your job is to offer a few sets of fitting nightwear. Sounds easy, right? It will be, with just a little bit of extra thought. Think comfy, safe and practical. What you don’t want is to put your son through a contortionist act each night to get his pj’s on. These few tips will help make bed time a snug wind-down moment he’ll cherish.

Growth chart

The contents of his wardrobe may not rotate as quickly as when he was a newborn, but still. You will have to keep his growth curve in mind for pyjamas too.

Read the care label for an age guide and an indication of the exact size in centimeters. Then match the garment to your child’s actual height.

From the UK-World Health Organisation chart you’ll see that boys typically grow between 5 and 10cm each year. If your bambino is a couple of centimeters under the size indicated, it’s best to choose the next size up. This is so the pyjamas still fit by the time you have them washed and ready! If however you realise the item is way too big when you get home, don’t hesitate to exchange it for a tighter fit.

If that sits nice without gaping at the ankles or squeezing the forearms in, you can safely grab a couple more for handiness.

Shrinkage

Say you are hesitating between a 110cm and a 116cm boys short-sleeved pyjama and fitted pyjama bottoms. The size indicated should take into account the shrinkage of the fabric after wash. Therefore even a cotton fabric in 110cm will fit your 107cm four-year-old. And that’s despite cotton shrinking more than polyester fibre.

The pitfall of too large a piece is that your child’s movements during his sleep will swish the fabric around and over his delicate skin. This can quickly lead to rashes. Any mum of an eczema-prone bambino will thank tight-fitting nightwear for cosy, itch-free nights.

Four seasons

If your little one is quite the sensitive type, it is always best to go with 100% cotton boys’ pyjamas. If you haven’t noticed any reaction to polyester clothes he wears during the day, you can of course opt for this fabric for his nightwear. This will lend extra warmth to the long cold winter nights, as polyester retains body heat. Better still, a mixed fabric garment in polycotton can give you the best of both worlds.

Other than that, you can of course stick with 100% cotton and play with the length of the sleeves and bottoms according to the season. Shorts, tube leggings or a jumpsuit will provide the right warmth at different times of year and will be fun alternatives for your child to change into.

However alluring some prints and offers can be, always keep a close eye on care labels, garment composition, size and finish. Then you can go for several designs and lengths. Your boy’s pyjamas will eventually go through some serious mixing and matching once your mini man decides to run the show. Who said bed time routine was boring?

How to Choose Blush Bridesmaid Dresses for A Mix & Match Bridal Party

December 24, 2018 by admin

If you’re struggling to choose the aesthetic you want for your wedding VIPs, consider a mix & match bridal party. And one step better…a blush bridal party. This pale, soft and romantic shade of pink looks stunning in every setting. If you start with blush as your signature color, you can use it as a guide to mix and match your bridal party outfits.

Read on for our tips for choosing blush bridesmaid dresses.

Choose a universally-flattering shade

While blush is a beautiful shade, it’s not always the most flattering on certain skin tones. Very pale or fair skin tones can sometimes prove a little washed out when matched with blush. However, this is completely avoidable if you find the right shade. Go for blush tones which are a little deeper, with a little more pink as opposed to very nude or white-based. The more depth of color there is, the brighter your paler bridesmaids’ complexions will be.

Play with different styles

Once you’ve chosen your perfect shade of blush to flatter all of your girls, you can start to add a point of different for each bridesmaid. Mix and match wedding parties are great because they give each bridesmaid the chance to show her own style while still fitting the aesthetic. One could wear a mini with longer sleeves, one could wear a midi with a halterneck, and one could wear a simple shift with an off-the-shoulder neckline. These are just a few suggestions to get your mind thinking over the many possibilities. If all of your bridesmaids are wearing the same shade of blush, the same makeup story and similar hair styles, your bridal party will be cohesive no matter how contrasting the dress styles are.

Add brightness with makeup

The great part about subtler colors for bridesmaid dresses is that it leaves a lot of room for more color elsewhere. To add a fresh pop of brightness, you can choose bolder makeup shades. Keep the cheeks flushed, blushed and bronzed, and go for a pop of color on the lips such as a fuschia or coral. Blush is such a feminine, soft and romantic dress color, you can really play it up by choosing feminine makeup shades and glowing skin to match.

Play up the romance with soft accessories

Hair and makeup aren’t the only ways to add your own flair and special touch to your blush bridesmaid dresses. Think about what kind of jewelry, shoes and hair accessories you could add to the overall look. The softness of blush goes stunningly well with other soft shades and textures. You could find white or cream-colored flowers to create hair accessories for your bridesmaids, tucked into their hair for a feminine accent.

Conclusion

Blush is an absolutely beautiful color choice for your bridal party. Start by finding a shade to flatter all of your bridesmaids, bringing out the beauty of each complexion. Bring a unique touch to your wedding party by having a mix and match collection of bridesmaid dresses, with each bridesmaid wearing her own individual style. Your wedding will not only be soft, romantic, feminine and photo-friendly, but it will be memorable and unique.

Out of the Closet: 2018 Wardrobe Staples Revisited

June 29, 2018 by admin

While cute fashion trends are endless, our bank account, however, is not. You know how it is every season – you grab a magazine, you browse the latest styles, and you just about go crazy from creative joy as you see a bunch of stunning garments that you just know would look flawless on you. And then you check the small print underneath that has the price tag on it, get a minor heart attack, and realize that you are sadly not made of cash. Does this mean you don’t get to be fashionable? Hell no. A fashionista is not rich, a fashionista is creative, thrifty, and knows the worth of a good staple garment. With a few versatile pieces, a style-savvy gal can make magic happen, so if you want to know what you’ll need to make 2018 be your best fashion year yet, read on.

Denim jacket

Denim everything is really in right now! But while some pieces can be considered great staples, other things are very obviously going to last only one season and then be tossed away at the back of your closet. For example, denim crop tops, corsets, and tube tops might sound like a fun idea, but in reality, they’re impractical, hard to style, and can very easily come off as tacky. But denim jacket? That’s what you should invest in. You’ll be staying true to the jeans-material-is-everything, but you’ll also have something useful on your hands. You can wear it with pretty much anything – from maxi dresses to graphic tees and shorts combo. Pick a classic straight cut if you like it subtle, or maybe something with distressed denim details to give it a bit of an edge.

Sneakers for style and comfort

Athleisure is no longer just a trend, it’s a lifestyle. If Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner can make it their staples, so can we, and the very basis of good athleisure lies in sneakers. They’re comfy, they’re good for your feet and your posture, and they just so happen to be very fashionable right now as well. Whether you wear them with leggings, miniskirts, jeans, or baggy sweatpants, it’s up to you. They’re not limited to athleisure either – a sassy pair of kicks goes well with a cute dress, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

Timeless bags

What could possibly be more practical than a good bag? It’s the perfect accessory for any lady, and the latest women’s black bags are so perfectly elegant and sleek that they’re bound to make any outfit more stylish. Nothing like a cute little tote or a saddle bag made of leather to make you look sophisticated, or if you crave something more casual you could pick a backpack. Make sure that it’s black in color if you want to keep it versatile and trendy, and feel free to wear it with absolutely everything.

Bombshell pencil skirt

These curve-hugging garments are the ultimate sexy staple that somehow manages to be entirely professional at the same time. They look great when paired with simple button-down shirts if you need them for the office, but they’re actually quite a good idea for a date night as well. Wear a red silk blouse and a pair of heels and you’ll be achieving elegance with absolutely no effort. Don’t be afraid to pair them with graphic tees for an urban, street style look, or with a crop top and a cute clutch for a party night. If you want to make it even more interesting, pick a black leather pencil skirt.

Blazers for work

Pantsuits are still extremely popular this year, but you don’t have to invest in a whole suit if your budget doesn’t allow it. A good blazer is worth the money because it’s one of the easiest things to wear, and it’s absolutely priceless for office fashion. A plain white tee and jeans can be made professional with the help of a suit jacket, and having a few of these in versatile neutrals (black, navy, white) will mean you always have something to fall back on when you need to look polished.

Classic jeans

Straight-cut jeans are back! You don’t have to throw away your favorite pair of skinnies at all, but having old school, Levi’s cut jeans with a straight leg and maybe a tapered cut means owning something that’s never going to go out of style. This is truly a timeless staple that is impossible not to love, so if you love your denim, enjoy styling it in creative ways.

Make your own capsule wardrobe with these trendy-yet-practical items! You don’t have to spend a ton of cash to look good, you just need to mix and match good staple pieces and you’ll be surprised at how far it can take you.
