3 Ways to Upgrade an Outdated Bathroom

February 28, 2022 by admin

If you are unhappy with the look of your bathroom, the process of beginning renovations can feel overwhelming, especially if you aren’t sure where to begin. An older bathroom is not only susceptible to issues like mold and water damage but is also unlikely to reflect a homeowner’s taste in decor like another room in the house could. Here are 3 things to upgrade in your bathroom to give the space a modernized, luxurious feel.

Bathtub

One of the best ways to unwind after a long day is by taking a relaxing, hot bath. If your bathtub is outdated or a bit unsightly, upgrading it could be worth it if you find yourself looking for a new way to de-stress. Clawfoot tubs are beautiful, and add value to your home (homes with clawfoot tubs are 30% more likely to sell). They are also made from materials that can hold heat, meaning your bath water won’t get cold too quickly and you can make the most of your relaxing bath. If you don’t like the look or feel of clawfoot tubs, another option is a luxury bathtub with jets. These tubs give you a comforting, spa-like experience from the comfort of your own bathroom.

Cabinets

If you find that your bathroom looks outdated or does not match the theme or decor of the rest of your home, changing your bathroom cabinets could be a quick fix. Cabinets and vanities are a major eye-catcher in any bathroom, so they should match the look and feel of the rest of the room. Many companies, such as Capitol Kitchen & Bath, offer complete renovations to cabinets regardless of your style or budget. Consider not only the style and design you’d like your cabinets to have but also the space you’d like them to offer. Changing up your cabinets can help to quickly modernize your bathroom, and could help you to organize or de-clutter your space.

Flooring

Another way to quickly upgrade an outdated bathroom is by replacing the flooring. While many homes have tile, ceramic, or vinyl flooring in their bathrooms, a modern choice that is growing popular is natural stone flooring. This adds an elegant and luxurious touch to any bathroom and can raise the resale value of your home. Wood flooring is also a popular choice in sleek, modernized bathrooms (just make sure it is waterproof). Updating your flooring is one of the fastest and most effective ways to make your bathroom look brand new.

Clever Ideas for Small Baths

May 4, 2018 by admin

It’s true that small bathrooms can be a challenging design project, especially if you have a family. However, that doesn’t mean that you cannot make the most of the space you have, and still create something beautiful, relaxing and functional. There are various tips and tricks that can make designing a small bathroom a truly rewarding process with satisfying results. If you too are struggling to find the best possible solution for your bath, check out the following possibilities.

The question of storage

Usually, storage is the biggest issue when it comes to small bathrooms, but you can approach this task creatively. In the end, if you don’t have enough storage space such as cabinets, don’t feel the need to stuff your bathroom with more cabinets. If the space is small, this won’t look or feel good. Instead, you may utilize vertical space by installing floating shelves. Open shelving looks infinitely better in small bathrooms, and it allows you to grab whatever you need instantly. This is especially important for families with kids. What’s more, colorful towels or bath products can add a personal touch to the overall bathroom design. If you have a bit more space though, you can use storage ladders instead of shelves, or stack wooden/woven crates for an affordable cabinet alternative.

Functionality and order

Functionality and order are two most important features of a small bathroom if your goal is to make it feel pleasant and relaxing. Basically, everything in your bathroom should have its purpose so declutter and remove things that simply make a mess with no real use. Once you do that, it’s important that you create order in your bathroom. You should have a designated place for everything. For example, cleaning agents can be under the sink – if you don’t have a built-in cabinet already, you can use a crate, or any other type of container that fits the purpose. You can use a sink curtain to block these cleaning agents from view as well. Another example are your bath and beauty products. Instead of having everything in a total mess, you can get an angle suction cup shelf that will help you divide your shower products from hair ones, etc. If this is not possible, even a hanging door rack can be useful for this purpose. Just make sure that you keep only the necessities, and know where they are at all times.

Design around the bathtub

When you’re redesigning any room, you should determine a focal point and continue the process from that point. The same goes for your bathroom. Even if your bathroom space is small, you can benefit a lot from a nice bathtub when it comes to both functionality and looks. After all, there are plenty of small and stylish bathtubs available on the market today. What’s more, having a bathtub is very important for families with kids, as the tub allows you to have more control over the kids as you’re giving them a bath, or have to reach for something from the previously-mentioned open shelves. Once you deal with the choice of tub, the rest of design will be easier to plan out as functionally and beautifully as possible.

Creativity to maximize the space

Your choice of colors and other accessories can affect the size of your bathroom visually. So, why not make your small bathroom visually larger and definitely more appealing? In general, keeping the main palette theme in your bath clean and neutral is the best choice. White and other neutral shades are perfect, but you can always add a pop of color. You can do this with bathroom floor tiles if you’re up for a more striking look, or other details such as towels, shelves and hanging racks, curtains, mirror frames, etc. Speaking of mirrors, don’t hesitate to use one that’s as large as it can be for your small bathroom. It will reflect the light, making the space appear bigger. The same thing happens with glossy finish tiles, so if you’re planning to add retiling to the design process, keep this in mind.

Just because your bathroom is small in size doesn’t mean that you should automatically give up on making it as practical and pleasant as it can be for you and your family. The important thing is to work with what you have in order to create the best version of that space. As it’s one of the most important rooms in one’s house, don’t hesitate to put some effort into making your bathroom suitable and comfy.

Bathroom Remodeling Tips

June 23, 2017 by admin

The bathroom is somewhere that we spend a great deal of our time and although you may not realize it, the quality of your bathroom can have a profound effect on your day. We don’t just use our bathrooms for cleansing ourselves and when nature calls, it is also the sanctuary which we can go to, lock the door and be alone with our thoughts for a while. For these reasons it is important that when it comes to remodeling your bathroom, you do so with a great deal of thought and careful planning. If you are preparing to remodel your bathroom, here are some tips which may be able to help you out.

Subtle Themes

The best bathrooms are those which use subtle designs, colors and patterns to make the place stand out. Filling your bathroom with a variety of colors will only serve to make the bathroom feel chaotic, remember that this is a room which should be relaxing. In order to keep it simple and effective, why not consider a plain white, slate or black bathroom, and then add hints of color and design throughout.

Go Big on The Bathtub

A bathtub can really add to the overall impact of your bathroom and you should view it as a center point as well as something that is functional. For this reason it is important that you aren’t afraid to spend the necessary money on a tub that will not only look amazing in your bathroom but also can provide you with ultimate relaxation and comfort after a long day. There is a wide range of baths to choose from such as clawfoot bathtubs and freestanding bathtubs, depending on what you have space for and which you think suits you best.

Functionality

Whilst opting for a pretty bathroom is not such a bad thing, you must also make sure that the bathroom which you are designing is practical too. If you have kids then you are going to need a bathroom which is flexible and has plenty of storage space. If it is just yourself or you and a partner then perhaps you may want to focus on a bathroom which can give you maximum comfort and relaxation space.

Make sure that you put the time in to designing your bathroom, it is an important room in the house and one which you probably spend more time in than you would’ve thought.
