When someone tells you they need to see an orthopedist, it means they are having problems with their muscle or joint. These body parts can have many types of problems that lead to limited function and mobility and severe chronic pain. Combined they produce inhibited function and a reduced quality of life. In extreme case they can also be life threatening. Many orthopedic issue can be treated with outpatient therapies. Although some orthopedic issues happen due to accidents that are unavoidable, many others occur because of habits we have or issues that can be avoided. Here is a short list of things you can do to minimize your chances of having orthopedic issues:

Have a Balanced Diet

Eating right is a great way to ensure that your body has the nutrients it needs to build and maintain strong bones, muscles and tendons. If you have vitamin or mineral deficiency from a poor diet, your chances of having orthopedic problems increases dramatically. So you should follow a diet rich in proteins, carbohydrates and good fats, to ensure you have all of the nutrients you need.

Get Regular Check-ups

Unfortunately most of us do not get regular check-ups and only visit the doctor after we think too much time has passed since our last visit or we have a pain or congestion or some other ailment that won’t go away. As a result we do not catch the earlier stages of a problem. Part of the reason this is so common is the overly expensive costs of healthcare and the fear of finding out you have a condition that will bankrupt you. But the flip side is that when you the doctor’s office like an emergency room, you only end up paying high prices for your medical care.

Everyone should have an annual check-up and receive the tests that are commensurate with your age. At that check-up you should tell your doctor of any pains you have big or small and if they have lasted and unusually long period of time. Remember, chronic conditions usually start out as intermediate conditions that get worse over time. Catching something early can correct it and save you pain and money.

Low Impact Exercise

Regular exercise is one of the most important things you can do to maintain good health and we all need regular exercise as part of our regular good health routine. But not all exercise is equal when it comes to orthopedic health.

Exercises that place less strain on our muscles, tendons and bones is a much better choice for out keeping them healthy. This means that exercises like bike riding, walking water aerobics, treadmill, swimming and other exercises that do not place much strain on the muscles and tendons and constant impact on the bones are the ones you should do consistently.  To be clear, the exercise should be strenuous enough to get your muscles working and your heart rate up, but it should not have all of the pounding that you get from some exercises like tennis or basketball. These exercises over time will cause problems for your joints and may lead you to need to see an orthopedist.

Combat Joint Pain with Effective Medication

Arthritis is one of the most frequently diagnosed conditions in the United States. While surgery is often a last resort, the pains are often remedied with the recommendations on this page as well as medication. Travelling is a wonderful time for laughter, bonding and festivities. An opportunity to learn new things, see different cultures and connect with different people. Whether it be on the beach, a new city, trekking on the mountains or star gazing in the wild, traveling is one of the best de-stressors when you need to take a time out. And what better way to spend it with your family.

No matter how far you are away from home, maintaining a healthy lifestyle is a must, and yoga is proof that exercise on-the-go is not difficult. Here are simple ways to do just that:

1. Bring your props with you


Yoga props don’t consume too much space in your luggage, just bring your mat with you! A big travel mat rolled on your bag would indeed serve as a reminder that it’s time to squeeze in some exercise hours on your vacation but it might just add up a wee amount of weighing.

Or maybe there’s a studio beside the famous restaurant you are dying to try. In any case, search for Yoga practice opportunities before you travel.

3. Make an itinerary and make yoga part of it

So, your youngest wants to go to the waterpark and your eldest wants to check out the museum; your hair is thinning out at the thought of having not enough time to go to all of these places but you want everyone to be happy, too. Well, the best plan is to make a plan. Find time before your travel to search for the noteworthy tourist’s spots, find the perfect schedule and you’re good to go. While you’re at it, keep an eye out for opportunities to practice yoga as well.

Not only is this a good husband and wife quiet time, but it can also be one of the most memorable bonding experiences you will have with your children. Do not be intimidated by silent yoga retreats as this is a whole new level of experience altogether.

6. Meditate

Travelling, though enjoyable for everyone, can also be quite tiring. Take a few minutes out of your day to just practice your breathing. The best times are when you are waiting for your flight, aboard your plane and while traveling on land to your destination. It need not be a complicated practice as you can just sit there, block the surroundings and just breathe. You can turn it into a game for your kids, everyone will enjoy it.

7. Do not forget to cleanse

Yoga is a cleansing of the mind, spirit and the body. Make sure you get your daily, if not weekly, dose of it. And while you’re at it, take advantage of your time while on vacation; reset your body by getting that 8 hours of sleep. Pick your food thoroughly– an option you don’t usually have when you only have an hour for lunch at work. Do some light reading. Anything that would help you reach that state of relaxation where both your mind and body is at rest.
Be it on vacation or at the comfort of your own home, there’s plenty of yoga to go around. Share the experiences with your family and new friends, ask them to join and eventually, build a community of yogis eager to practice even when they’re away from home.

HOW NOT TO FEEL EXAUSTED AS A MOTHER?

Being mum to younger children are more than having a hectic and stressful life. With the kids getting older, some of the stresses and strains of parenthood resolve themselves, making life a little easier. Obviously, there will be the stresses and worries with the kids growing up, but unlike when they’re little they no longer require constant care.

If you want to be at your best as a mummy, you really need to handle your stress very wisely.You need to de-stress and unwind instead of exhausting yourself over issues—big or small. When it comes to taking some time out for ourselves, a lot of us are hesitant to do so. However, it really is important to give your mind and body some time to relax.

If you are wondering what the best methods of relaxation for busy mums. Below is a list of tips and ideas for relaxing and unwinding, give these a try, and I promise that you’ll feel calmer and more in control.

  1. Start your day with yoga:

A great way to a calm start is to wake up and spend 20-minutes practicing yoga or some stretches. This should help you to let go of any stress and should relax your mind and body so that you’re able to drift off to sleep more easily.

  1. Get yourself a relaxing bubble bath:

Fill the tub with water, add some bubble bath or a few drops of lavender oil – lavender helps the body to relax and unwind. You could also dot some candles or flameless candles about, to help set the mood and make the room feel more relaxing.

  1. Use nap time to rest and refuel:

Take some time out to take out in the hours to the day to take a few mini naps. Aim to take at least 15-minutes out at nap time to sit down with a cup of warm tea and play along a few online games such poker or bingo games. Even a few minutes of alone time should make you feel calmer and more relaxed.

  1. Spend time with your Child:

Take a break from parenting and spend some real time with your child. Abandon yourself completely to the play with them without a deadline or time line or goal.

Life as a mum, is always but a roller coaster ride when you have so much of responsibilities to carry but following on a daily routine that is a perfect blend of both work and fun is certainly something to look forward to, in your lives!
