You’ve gone to court, fought for custody, and finally been awarded those alimony payments you need. Now that the dust has settled and the ink on the divorce papers is dry, all that’s left is to get on with your life and adjust to life as a newly single woman. While that may be easier said than done, you’re going to get nowhere by sitting in the house curled up on the couch in your pajamas with a gallon of Chunky Monkey and Netflix. In this blog, you can find some tips for getting your glow back and moving on with the rest of your life.
Get Up and Dress Up
During the first days after your divorce, you tend to laze around and not get dressed during the day. That’s just not going to do! Instead, set your alarm, get up at a decent hour, and try to get back on a normal schedule. Never allow yourself to wallow and sit around in pajamas or jogging pants and big shirts all day. Instead, pull out some of your best boutique maxi dresses, put on some sandals, and head out to socialize and get your life back. Even if it’s just lunch with friends, it’s a step in the right direction and you’ll be happier for it.
Eat Healthy
Of course, everyone knows that chips and comfort food are in the cards, but that’s not all you should eat. There’s nothing wrong with indulging yourself for a couple of days, but then it’s time to start eating healthy again. Getting back out there is about as much how you feel on the inside as how you look on the outside. Up your veggies and fruit intake, so that you’ll be glowing in all areas of your life, not just with your makeup and clothing. When you add veggies, fruits, and lean protein to your diet you’ll feel better, have more energy, and not be as depressed at the same time.
Work it Out
You’re bound to have anger and depression issues after a divorce, even if it’s an amicable one. The best way to get out those anger issues and give your endorphins a boost of happiness is by working out. This isn’t to say that you have to go all Incredible Hulk in your workouts. Start small, even if it’s just a walk around the block every day, and work your way up. You never know, you may find that working out is something you enjoy and do it even after your divorce is long behind you.
Schedule a You Day
You’ve probably been so worried about paying the bills and helping your kids adjust to their new lives, that you haven’t thought about yourself since the divorce process began. You need to schedule a “you” day, a day when you worry about no one but you. Whether it’s a full makeover, a spa day, or just a day to do nothing but what you want to do, a “you” day will help you get back your glow faster than anything else can.
Get a New Hobby
There are probably tons of hobbies that you never had time to get into while you were married, so why not pick one up now? Whether it’s photography, taking a cooking class, or cross-stitching, starting a new hobby will help you start the new life that you deserve.
These are just a few of the best ways to get your glow back and get back out into the world after your divorce is final. Getting back out there is your first task, and the rest will fall into place in time.
