Got Culture? 5 Interesting Facts You May Not Have Known About India

February 26, 2018 by admin

If you are planning to visit India, it is essential to know that this is a country full of surprises. There is a myriad of aspects you’ll need to know so you cannot be caught flat-footed. As a tourist, familiarizing yourself with these aspects will make your life easy since India is a country whose culture greatly differs from the rest of the world.

India is a Young Country

Although this may not be known to you, India is pretty much a young nation. About a half of its population is below 25 years, and 67 percent below 35 years. A lot of Indians are confident about what India can offer and no longer look to the West. The homegrown talent in this country is flourishing with many people taking up stunning traditional professions and other careers in arts. Major Indian cities like Channai, Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore are becoming hubs for concerts and live performances.

You’ll Be Hounded

When you are India, people may see you as rich tourist, thanks to your country’s stronger currency. In many occasions, beggars will follow you, shopkeepers will call you into their shops, and taxi drivers will hail you to hire their services. Make sure your Indian friends tell you how you need to act while in the city and how to get yourself a comfortable means of transport.

Temple Etiquette

When you are visiting India, do not forget to take off your shoes when stepping into holy places such as the temples and remember not to put on revealing clothes. India’s visitors are usually tempted to put on shorts, but you need to make sure your lower parts of the body and your shoulders are covered when visiting a temple.  The Indians take their religion seriously, and therefore, you could easily offend them if you leave parts of your body exposed. If you plan on visiting religious centers in India – most of which hold archeological and historical significance – remember to respect their religious sentiments even when you aren’t a believer.

Public Displays of Affection

Taj Mahal’s beauty or the fascinating lagoons of Kerala might make your partner want to hold you close or even give you a quick kiss and a hug, but both of you should think twice before you can display your affection publicly. Although you may find couple canoodling in the parks, it is essential not to showcase your affection in public while in India.

Indian Festivals

With various cultures and religions, you’ll come cross celebrations, fairs, and different styles of merry-making. This is what the rich culture of India is all about. Whether it’s the colors of Holu, Diwali’s shimmering lights, Id Ul Fitr, the extravaganza of Durga, or Christmas, you will encounter incredible Indian cuisine and indigenous customs. You can also spend your nights in amazing hotels such as JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu, and enjoy the amazing facilities these establishments have to offer.

There’s so much about India you need to know before you set for a journey to this young nation. Acquaint yourself with information about this country, so you are aware of the dos and don’ts when touring India.

What You And Your Family Can Anticipate For Your Upcoming Florida Trip

February 24, 2018 by admin

If you plan on taking your family away to the Sunshine State of Florida this year, you can be sure that you are in for a vacation that you will never forget. This is a state which is designed for holidaymakers and in each city and town within Florida, there is something on offer for everyone. It is no surprise that so many millions of people flock to Florida each year, predominantly families, and the infrastructure for tourism here is like nowhere else in the world.

Before you head off on your trip, it is important to understand what you are in for, and here are just some of the things which you can anticipate ahead of your journey.

Heat

Whilst there may be the odd tropical storm down in Florida, it is fair to say that this is rare and what you should be expecting, is searing heat. The heat in Florida is not always of the humid variety which means that it is rarely uncomfortable in the same way that desert heat is. During your trip to Florida you can pretty much guarantee sunshine and hot weather each and every day, giving you reasons to be cautious. There are no special measures to be taken during your time in Florida, just the normal protection that you would expect in the sunshine. On a trip to Florida, the kids in particular will feel the heat and the effects of the sun more than parents, so make sure that you have plenty of high factor suncream and skin covering clothes.

Theme Parks

Florida offers a large range of theme parks from Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World, Busch Gardens and Jungle Island to name just a few. Whether this is your biggest reason for heading to Florida or not, one thing that is for sure is that you are going to have a lot of choice when it comes to enjoying the wild rides and adrenalin-fuelled adventures that you can find at a theme park. The range in parks means that there is something for all ages and all tastes. Make sure that you plan well when it comes to taking your family to theme parks as tickets will sell quickly, and they will take up a large amount of your holiday.

Excitement

There is always excitement for any vacation, but here the levels of excitement can hit the roof, and you should be aware of that. A fortnight in Greece or a week in the south of Spain will of course excite the family, but nothing like what you will see here in Florida. The combination of sunshine, fun activities, new places, amazing food and general happiness, can really take its toll and many even say that after a Floridian vacation, they need a break to come down from all of the excitement. Whilst this is true for everyone that comes to Florida, those with your children in particular will experience the sheer extremity of the excitement levels which their kids can reach.

Your choice to vacation in Florida will prove to be one of the best that you have ever taken, mark our words.

5 Reasons You Should Explore a BSN Degree

February 22, 2018 by admin

Source

While some hospitals and clinics require their RNs to hold a bachelor of science in nursing, you will find others that only require holding a state license as an RN. There are several advantages to furthering your education and the next logical step is to get that BSN. If you are still on the fence, here are five reasons to you may want to consider.

1. More Doors Are Open to You

With a bachelor of science in nursing from leading schools like Duquesne University, you will find that you have greater job opportunities. Some job postings are only open to candidates with that four-year degree and as luck would often have it, that would be the job you really want. If you are looking for the widest range of RN positions, you will need to pursue a BSN.

2. Higher Pay Grade

As of May 2017, RNs with a BSN earned an average salary of $69,697 while RNs with an ADN earned approximately $8,337 less. Understand that this is the average difference, but in many cases, the difference in salary is much greater. Remember, job options are far greater when you hold a BSN, so you can qualify for much better-paying jobs of your choice.

3. A Step up Toward an MSN

Many RNs are motivated to work up the ladder within their field. Some want to move on to a master’s degree in nursing while others want to move even higher up to eventually be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner. If you take that next step to a BSN, you are in a perfect position to increase your earnings and job opportunities exponentially.

4. Studies Beyond Clinical Applications

As a nurse who holds only a diploma or an associate degree, you will find that you are taught the basics of nursing. Yes, you will move beyond what an LPN can do and earn, but you will not have been taught other skills necessary to a position of leadership. With a BSN, you can be a team leader, a charge nurse, and are trained in critical thinking. Bear in mind that those extra two years can prepare you to carry responsibilities beyond clinical applications.

5. You Can Study 100% from Home

There was a time when it was extremely difficult for working nurses to advance their degrees. Now you can move from RN to BSN online without stepping foot into a classroom. This is why so many nurses now begin with a diploma or an ADN. They can begin earning an income so that they are self-sufficient while furthering their education.

After all, not only will you have greater earning potential and job opportunities, but you will be in a position to work towards even higher levels within the field of nursing. Whether or not you see that BSN as a stepping stone towards the autonomy of a nurse practitioner, you will find your chosen career that much more rewarding with the benefits derived from a higher level of education.
