6 Ways to Combat Brittle Bones as You Age

August 7, 2018 by admin

As people age, the bones quickly start to become brittle and weak. This is especially true if people aren’t doing what they should to keep themselves healthy and in shape. Strengthening the bones and body is one of the best ways to combat brittle bones, along with other methods. With difficulty moving and handling tasks, regular pain, and other problems, aging adults should do everything they can to keep their bones strong to avoid these struggles.

Surgery

Minimally invasive surgeries exist to help repair broken bones. If other options have not worked, then surgery is often the last resort to ensure the body can work as intended. A wrist surgery, for example, requires just one or two small incisions to treat injuries to both bone and soft tissue within the wrist and hand. Minimize scarring occurs with a faster recovery than a more invasive approach.

Diet

Certain vitamins and minerals are ideal for bone health. By consuming a diet high in these nutrients, people can keep their bones as healthy as possible, even prolonging the aging process. Protein is essential, especially for those who have suffered a break or fracture and need to heal. Calcium and magnesium are also important. Eating foods rich in Vitamin D and Vitamin C will help with calcium absorption and bone growth.

Supplements

Some people do not get all the nutrients they need for strong bones from diet alone. Perhaps they have a particular allergy or simply do not like to drink milk often. Supplements help tremendously to ensure individuals are getting the vitamins and nutrients they need to keep bones strong. Taking a bone health, bone strength, or bone restore vitamin can help considerably.

Exercise

Individuals who already have brittle bones may find it difficult to exercise. With a weakened body and regular pain, working out is often the last thing on people’s minds. However, exercise is essential to bone health and repairing the accumulated damage to bones over the years. A low-impact workout, such as one done in the water, will help tremendously. The buoyancy of the water will lessen the impact on the joints and allow people to work out their bodies in a beneficial way.

Improving Home Safety

Another way to combat brittle bones is to improve safety within the home. If older adults know they struggle with weakened bones and bodies, then they should do what they can to keep themselves from getting hurt and causing more damage. Bones can break easily during falls, for example, so non-slip mats should be added to the bathroom and kitchen, while rugs that come up easily need to be removed so people aren’t tripping over them. It is also wise to add grab bars in the bathrooms for help getting up and down.

Stop Smoking

Smokers tend to have a lower bone mass overall, which leads to a higher chance of fractures. Women who smoke tend to go through menopause sooner because of the loss of estrogen in their systems. This can cause bone loss in itself. Anyone who smokes and has for years will have even more problems. Smokers should stop now to prevent further damage to their bones.

The aging process doesn’t have to be debilitating. Though bones become brittle as people age, there are plenty of ways to prevent the problem, as well as combat it once it’s started. Healthy bones and bodies are possible at all ages as long as people work on improving them at all times.

What Are The Main Causes Of Breast Cancer?

July 31, 2018 by admin

Source

Most women these days are afraid of breast cancer or are at least aware of the seriousness of the condition. This is one of the most common of all cancers among women and normally happens in the breast’s lobules or ducts. You want to be sure that you take preventive measures in order to avoid this awful condition. Life Medical Technologies mentions the fact that all women should have proper knowledge when discussing breast cancer causes.

What Causes Breast Cancer?

Nobody really knows the main breast cancer cause at the moment. However, there are different factors that are going to put you at a higher risk of being affected by this disease. Those that you really need to know more about include:

  • Aging– This may be a little hard to believe but the truth is that aging is a really common factor associated with breast cancer. As your body ages, risks grow to be affected.
  • Consuming alcohol – If you excessively drink alcohol you practically double the possibility that you will be affected by breast cancer. Make sure you limit quantities in order to avoid increasing breast cancer risks.
  • Denser Breast Tissue – Some doctors will tell you that when you have denser breast tissue there is a higher chance you are going to be affected by breast cancer. This is because cells that create this disease are going to simply grow faster.
  • Late child birth/not being pregnant– The women that have the first child at older age are at a higher risk of getting breast cancer. In addition, women that cannot easily conceive can be affected by breast cancer.
  • Early menstruation – If you are a woman that has the first period before 12 years old, the risk of getting breast cancer is higher when compared to those that get menstruation after that age.
  • Family history of breast cancer – Unfortunately, if you do have breast cancer in your family history, there is an increased possibility you are going to be affected. At the same time, if you had breast cancer in one of your breasts, the other one will most likely have to be checked since the possibility of getting it there is increased. Statistics show that there is a double possibility of having breast cancer if you have the disease in your family history.

It is really important that women go to the doctor and get checked up from time to time. Proper treatment is mandatory. Remember the fact that if breast cancer is diagnosed early, there is a much higher possibility that you are going to be treated. This is something that doctors do all they can in order to promote at the moment.

Women should know as much as possible about breast cancer. Not much information is available at the moment and you cannot trust all that you find online. Have patience and go talk to an experienced doctor. Learn what increases breast cancer risk and be sure you always respect absolutely all the indications that are offered by the medic.

Arnon Dror on How to Become an Effective Manager

July 28, 2018 by admin

It is impossible to write a definitive list of the requirement to be a successful manager and as with all situations different styles will work for different people. However, there are key skills which are practically pre-requisites to becoming successful in your role. These are skills possessed by Arnon Dror These keys and critical skills which will help you lead and encourage your team. You will have a natural ability to keep your employees motivated and to get along well with one another. A bad manager is often referred to as a reason that someone quit their job.

You will need to have excellent leadership skills. Experience will teach you how to get the best out of people. You could do voluntary work to gain this experience. A professional qualification is also great for gaining experience and knowledge of how staff work and how to get the best out of them.

You must be an effective communicator. You need to be organized and turn up on time as this is what will make your employers more effective and you must be able to lead by example. You need to be able to manage your time effectively so that you get everything you need to get done when you need to get it done. You need to be reliable and see through any promises you make to your clients.

You need to be able to delegate when required you cannot do everything yourself. This will also make your staff feel valued and trusted which will make them want to work hard to please you. To be an effective manager you need to be confident and self-assured. They need to be able to think that they can come to you and that you will find a hassle-free solution to their problems, quickly and effectively. They also need to find you approachable and friendly at all times so that they feel that they are able to come to you with any potential problems or issues, if they do not think that you are approachable you might not find out about the issue and then this could potentially escalate and cause much bigger issues.

A great area where managers seem to fail is by thanking and praising their employees, some managers see this as a weakness when in fact it is a key to great success. A manager cannot get the job done without its employees, and happy employees are more loyal and more productive.

You must show respect to your employees at all times and you must also praise them when they have done a good job. There is nothing more valuable to a boss, company owner or employer than a happy workforce. They will spread your good name to your friends and family and encourage business. They will also work hard for you and pull out all of the stops, including staying later or working overtime when it is of benefit to the company, if there is a rush order or something that needs doing.

James Padlock explains the different ways to coach

July 28, 2018 by admin

Every person is a different entity, it is old news that we all have different motivations and we all have reactions. There will always be ways to get the best and the worst out of people and this is very often connected with how you treat an individual. When you become a coach, you have all these factors to consider. You must work out what works best for each of the school or college students and how this can translate to training them to perform to their best, ultimately in matches, a skill that James Padlock has perfected throughout his athletic and coaching career.

There are three main coaching styles, autocratic where you set yourself up as a powerful leader and it is a very much do what I tell you to do, there are variances on how you will tell them to do it, which are discussed below. Autocratic coaching is built on the belief that if you do what you are told to do you will be successful. All of which James will use at varying times with different athletes.

Within the autocratic style there are still ‘two different types of coaching there’s telling and selling. Telling is when the coach decides what the team needs to do, tells them to do it and then expects them to follow his instructions. Selling is when the coach works out what the team needs, explains it to the team and the purpose of it. He then asks the athletes to explain what he has told them, which clarifies understanding, and to then confirm how they will do it. This works for athletes who want to be part of the decision-making process, it gives them the opportunity to ask questions and feel involved.

The democratic approach is where you involve the graduated athletes in their own decision-making process, they become the board members of their team. Again, there are two different approaches to democratic coaching, there is the sharing approach which involves the coach explaining what is required from the athletes, asking them how they think they can achieve this and then bringing these ideas together to confirm what they will do and how they will do it. The other democratic style is allowing, this is where the coach will explain to the athlete what is required of them, and then the athletes will decide how they will achieve their goals and they will make the decision process together, the coach will not have much input after the initial chat.

The third coaching style is laissez faire, the French work meaning Let do (let people do as they wish) this approach leaves all the choices to the athletes. The team form their own coaching center and although the coach will offer support and guidance when approached by the athlete for assistance, they are not completely left in the lake without a paddle!

As we discussed at the beginning all people are different and all teams are different it is very unlikely that a successful coach will stick to one type of coaching for every team he coaches, this is something that James Padlock has perfected over the years and is a major key to his success as a wrestling, football and soccer coach.

Stephen Varanko III Goes Over an Application Checklist for Prospective EMT Paramedics

July 27, 2018 by admin

Obtaining EMT paramedic certifications means completing an education above and beyond that of a high school diploma. In fact, an associate’s degree is the closest comparable degree to the EMT certification. Many actually study far more, which means their certification is closer to a bachelor’s degree. Each state has its own rules and regulations and some local counties have even instated more rules for someone who wants to be accepted to EMT Paramedic training. This is why Stephen Varanko III recommends that people look into the requirements they have to meet specifically in their local area. That being said, the following checklist is generally correct across the board and therefore a good way of preparing yourself for the training.

Stephen Varanko III on an EMT Paramedic Training Checklist

Before you can be accepted onto an EMT training program, you are likely to have to meet the following specifications:

  1. You must be at least 18 years old.
  2. You must hold a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  3. You must have proof of all your immunizations and show that your varicella, mumps, measles, rubella, and tuberculosis vaccinations are up to date. In fact, your TB shots may be no older than six months by the time you start training.
  4. You must complete the Hep C vaccination series. Some EMT courses allow you to indicate that you do not want to take part in that series, but this must be properly documented.
  5. You must complete a college level course in English and math.
  6. You must be able to pass a physical exam, or have completed one in the past 12 months.
  7. You must provide proof of medical insurance.
  8. You must pass a background check.

If you meet the above eight requirements, it is likely that you will be accepted to an EMT training courses. Locations that offer these courses include:

  • Universities
  • Colleges
  • Hospitals
  • Technical schools
  • Firefighter training centers

Before you enrol in a paramedic school or EMT training program, Stephen Varanko III recommends that:

  • You look at the reputation of the program and the qualification you will received.
  • You look at how much the program costs, but you shouldn’t let this be the deciding factor in whether or not you should enrol. Financial aid is generally available.
  • You find a program that prepares you for the NREMT examination and certification. This is the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and must be passed if you want to become licensed as a paramedic.
  • You learn about the expectations of the training and its schedule.

Once you start your training, you must be fully committed to completing it and be consistent in your work. If you find that the schedules or routines are difficult for you to cope with, you should speak to a guidance counselor at your school as soon as possible so that they can find an appropriate solution. Once you become certified, you will embark in a challenging career that is both very rewarding and very difficult to manage. It takes a very special person to be able to do this job and if you believe that you are that special person, then you should go for it.
