Ingredients & Baby Skin Care Products: How Important Are They?

March 16, 2017 by admin

Many baby product ingredients on the market have no place on an adult’s skin, let alone on a baby’s delicate skin. Human skin in general is porous, like a sponge, and anything we put onto it soaks right in – sometimes causing quite a bit of damage to the system.

So why do companies use ingredients that seem like they belong more in a science lab than in a personal hygiene product? We can’t be sure of other baby skin care companies’ motivation, but we fear it often comes down to cost, convenience, and pure marketing hype.

Fewer Ingredients is More

Even though we sell baby skin care products, we’ll be the first to tell you that your baby doesn’t need loads of ingredients and tons of products to stay clean and soft. A simple cleanser, lotion, and perhaps a baby diaper rash ointment or a few other gentle products are all an infant requires when it comes to personal care.

Further, a healthy baby certainly doesn’t need ingredients with hard-to-pronounce names that have been synthesized. Plant-based ingredients that are naturally cleansing, hydrating, and healing are good for promoting and maintaining healthy baby skin.

The EWG Says to Avoid These Toxic Ingredients

The ingredients that we and many experts (including the EWG) don’t believe should be in your baby’s creams, soaps, and other personal care products include: talc (known to be a drying agent, a lung irritant, and a possible carcinogen), synthetic fragrance (may cause skin, eye, respiratory, and neurological damage), propylene glycol (a penetration enhancer that easily absorbs into the skin and might be carcinogenic), and 1,4-dioxane and ethylated surfactants (the EWG reports that 57% of baby soap is contaminated with this known breast cancer inducing agent), among others.

Baby Mantra thinks that baby skin care should be made with simple ingredients from nature. Many are known to clean, moisturize, and heal gently, such as nut and vegetable oils, flower essences, and herbs. We want to keep babies protected and feeling good, so we make sure that all of our products – including our popular organic baby lotion – are clean, non-toxic, and naturally safe.

Great Suggestions For Making Some Side Cash

March 10, 2017 by admin

Have you been wanting to save up for that special event or special gadget you’ve had your eye on? Wanting to go off on an extra holiday this year but it’s not in the usual budget? Wanting to just be able to splash out a bit at the weekend on some new shoes but can’t justify the cost? Why not put your spare time to work and start making money by doing not much at all! Check out some of the great tips below to start making some extra money on the side!

Recycling Stuff

Think about that stuff around your house that is just collecting dust or is getting in the way. Is there anything there that could be a potential moneymaker? Things like old DVD’s and CD’s, books, games, even clothes and other bits and bobs that no longer have a use. Go through your old film collections and see if there is a potential goldmine in there. In particular old era Disney VHS go for a fair amount of money online these days – with some of them going for potentially hundreds if they’re unwrapped and still in mint condition. Mobile phones are another great option for recycling, with the higher prices going for more recent makes and models – but if you’re that person who has kept every phone since 1990 when you’ve upgraded, you could be sitting on a fair bit of money.

Rent out Parking

Are you living in an area where people would give their eye teeth for a parking spot they didn’t have to battle for or get up at the crack of dawn for? Are you frequently away or perhaps you work during the day and don’t need your spot between business hours when someone else could utilise it. This is a potential high earner depending where you live. Some places in extremely desirable places go for thousands a month. There’s even been reports of a parking spot in central St Ives, Cornwall going for £50,000 a year!

Tutoring

This is a great one for anyone who has any kind of specialist knowledge in a subject or for people who even just speak English as a first language. Many people don’t mind if their English teacher doesn’t possess a degree as long as they’re a native speaker. This can work for anyone that doesn’t mind conversational teaching – as in, just chatting with people by Skype who are happy to pick up the odd conversational lesson. You could even start your own group chat and get a couple of students to do group calls with people from around the world to practice together, all for a bit of side money!

Playing Casino Games Online

With so many different online casinos out there these days, it can be a bit daunting to find the perfect one for you. Choosing the casino with the best bonus program can be tricky, but it doesn’t have to be. Of course you want the best casino with the highest payouts and the best potential of winning, and no deposit casinos offer some great welcome bonuses allowing you to play right now without having to sacrifice or bet any of your own money at all!

So there you have a couple of great ways to make some quick side money without having to spend tons of time picking up a second job. Get started today and get those savings plump up so you can start enjoying your cash now!

Transitioning from Traditional to Eco-Friendly: Yes You Can

March 2, 2017 by admin

Source

When you think about changing things at home to make it more eco-friendly, what comes to mind? A montage of CFL bulbs and solar panels probably just played in your head, right? That’s totally normal. And it is usually why many people only think about making changes instead of actually making them: there are so many options and ways to change that choosing feels overwhelming. Let’s take a look at some that are easy to manage and that you can do right now.

Call Your Provider

Here’s the good news: the federal electrical grid requires power providers to incorporate sustainable and renewable power into their municipal supplies. This means that you are already getting at least some of your power from renewable sources. That’s great! If you would like to use only renewably sourced power, however, you will need to contact your provider and make that change. It often means paying a little bit extra every month but if you live in a state with a deregulated energy market you can often shop around for deals. Many states have sites designed to help you compare and contrast plans–click here for an example that is local to Texas.

Windows Windows Windows

Take advantage of natural light as much as possible. Arrange your furniture to allow you to use daylight for reading and working for as much of the day as you can.

Usually, this is where energy experts will recommend that you replace your windows with newer energy saving alternatives but that is costly and window replacement can eat up a lot of time. Instead, treat your windows yourself with film! You probably already know that covering your windows with clear plastic sheeting or film can help you dramatically reduce heat leaching during the winter months. Did you know, though, that there is also film that you can install during the summer months that will absorb heat and keep it from turning your windows into giant magnifying glasses? It’s true! Users report that using heat absorption film during the summer reduces the temperature in their homes by 10 degrees or even more–even though they let in just as much light!

Creative Cooking

A fireplace is a great source of heat during the winter. It can also be a great source of heat when you want to do some cooking. While we wouldn’t recommend cooking every meal in your fireplace (especially if you’re cooking for more than a couple of people), using it for a couple of meals each week isn’t a bad idea. You’ll get to use your camping cook gear year round!

Another option is to use your grill–yes, even when it is cold–to cook meals. This reduces your power consumption and, in many cases, helps you eat more healthfully.

Lighting Matters

CFL bulbs are not that much better than incandescents. Sure they use less power, but they also contain mercury, which is bad for the environment. The best bulbs you can use are LEDs. They’re bright, they don’t take forever to “warm up” and they use a fraction of the energy that incandescents and CFLs use. They are still pretty spendy, though, so don’t run out and buy a bunch right now. Simply replace your bulbs as they burn out.

Using solar powered lights is another good idea. You can use these in your yard and on your porch to reduce your power consumption. You can also repurpose them into indoor lighting devices. They won’t light up a whole room but they’re great for creating some ambiance.

Plant Some Stuff!

Even if you live in an apartment you can do some gardening. You don’t have to plant anything big or super high maintenance, but having plants is always a good idea. They can help scrub the air and, if you plant herbs, spices, veggies, fruits, etc–can reduce the number of trips you need to make to the grocery store, which helps reduce your carbon footprint.

These all might seem pretty basic but ask yourself: have you put any of these basic ideas into practice yet? Starting small and basic is the best way to build momentum for larger changes later on, so get to it!
